Please kill this bitch off. She’s extrememly irritating and it’s seriously ruining the show for me every time I see her on screen.
The show is barely holding onto me as it is (they need to start answering some fucking questions within the next couple episodes or I’m gone) but her character is so over the top it makes me cringe watching her.
If the big black dude was the mean pain in the ass one it may be believable but she looks like a cream puff and her lines sound so contrived.
PLEASE GET RID OF HER CHARACTER ASAP FUCKERS!!!
PS. I have no opinion of Michelle Rodriguez as an actress. I think she got a shitty character and there’s nothing she can do with it.
Actually, this is almost the exact same character she plays everytime. Don’t know if it’s typecasting or not, but smart-ass hostile chick seems to be her speciality. She annoys the crap out of me, I hope she is not long for the show.
Give it time. Sawyer was the same broody jerky note for easily 80% of the first season. Kate is a friggin mess of notes. Do we know anything at all about her character?
I’m gonna wait until I know more about her character before I write her off.
Hijack Question: Is this the same character who was hitting on Jack in the bar before the plane flight? She was a lot sweeter back then. Maybe since she didn’t have that drink with him on the plane, she’s decided to take out on everyone for the whole 2nd season.
I think we’ll see her soften up once she reaches the other survivors and reunites with Jack. I think once we learn a bit more about what the tail survivors went through, it may go some way in explaining why she’s coming off as such a bitch right now.
Note that when I say “soften up”, I’m not equating that with “improve her acting skills”. I can’t vouch for that one way or the other (this is my first exposure to her).
You know what I’ve come to realize? People who post “this show better do X or I’m gonna stop watching” don’t mean it, for the most part. And it’s annoying. Because if they don’t like a TV show then they should just stop watching it. But no, instead they come onto the internet and bitch about a show they still watch every week.
It’s like message boards, you know. People who post that they’re quitting a board because event X is so bothersome, don’t. Oh, maybe a few do, but they’re drowned out by posts like this (and no offense to the poster in question, but it’s hilarious in retrospect). It’s the people who don’t post about quitting, but just stop visiting the site, that actually quit.
I wonder what that says about people?
Anyways, Michelle Rodriguez doesn’t bother me. Of course, I don’t watch Lost, and have absolutely zero desire to do so, so there’s no reason she would. And if you feel that strongly about the chick, I suggest you don’t watch either.
Not me! I’m proud of myself for actually quitting several shows this season instead of putting myself through the displeasure of watching TV I hate all year. So long, Lost, Desperate Housewives, and 24! You won’t be missed!
Heh. Me too! (Though I wasn’t going to bitch about it). I was vaguely interested when my brother was watching it, but the script writers have confused “withholding information” with “interesting”, until you just want to slap them and yell “WTF are you pretending is going on here???”
If they ever spill the beans I’ll just get my brother to explain it now, it’s just too annoying.
We must be some kind of soulmates. I was about to start a very similar OP, focusing mainly on Michelle Rodriguez, but also going a little deeper into how season 2 is shaping up to be a suckfest altogether. Almost nothing happened in the first 3 episodes except that we saw the ridiculously contrived meeting of Jack and Desmond about 15 different times and a bunch of time-killing flashbacks.
And let me tell you, regardless of what dumbdick a few posts above me thinks, I WILL quit watching this show without thinking twice if the next 2-3 episodes don’t blow me away. I haven’t regularly watched a tv show on tv since probably season 6 or 7 of The Simpsons. The only reason my wife and I are watching this is because we rented the season 1 DVDs and finished them just a couple days before the season 2 premier, so we figured what the hell, this show is good enough to put up with commercials and watching it on their time instead of ours.
I really think they’re dumbing it down for 2 reasons:
1 - the writers have no idea what direction they’re taking the story in.
2 - they gained A LOT of fans in between seasons, so now they have to slow everything down and show it 5 different times to make sure all the drooling masses know what’s going on.
Oh, and to get back to my original point, Michelle Rodriguez is the worst actress since Sophia Coppola.
You know what I’ve come to realize? People who post in a thread discussing a TV show are mostly people who watch that TV show. But there’s always some smart ass who claims to have zero interest in said TV show who has to poke their nose in the thread just to make some comments about why are the people watching the show if parts of it annoy them and why don’t they just go ahead and quit watching the show.
And I have to wonder what that says about these people?
If they have no interest in said show and whether or not people watch it why do they feel so compelled to comment in a thread discussing or griping about the show? Why do the even open a thread about a topic that is of no interest to them? See the people who actually have zero interest in a subject are usually the ones who don’t bother posting to comment that they have no interest in the subject.
If your plane was dropped on an island and something started eating all the other passengers, you’d be pretty bitchy and annoying after 48 days too. (And pretty smelly, but that’s besides the point.) I’m glad she’s there, even if it’s to be the island’s Kennedy , and I’m surprised everyone else on the island isn’t really bitchy and annoying too. And I mean seriously assholish, not this asshole with a secret heart of gold crap from Sawyer.
I think you’re reading too much into my post. I said I’ve no desire to watch the show. That doesn’t necessarily mean rants about it hold no interest for me, nor did I say that. I complained about a specific aspect of the rant.
I mean, I’ve got no interest in Laci Peterson, but I’ve opened threads that were about her as well. I don’t know or care about Sampiro’s family, but he’s had some great posts in the Pit about them. Sometimes really funny and interesting rants can be made on topics I don’t care about, but they’re still nice to read. In this case, it didn’t quite reach that level, but I couldn’t know that coming into it.
Holy hassenpfeffer, she’s had, what, 15 minutes of screen time and people are already having a shitfit about her character? Give it some time. Everybody hated Jin at the beginning, but after giving him a little time, he’s turned out to be a much more complex guy than the first 15 minutes would have shown. Get your Oceanic airsickness bag and breath into it for a bit until you calm down.
Only if you define “almost nothing” as “almost as much as the entirety of season one combined”. Which, come to think of it, isn’t without merit for a show as slow-paced and character driven as Lost.
But seriously, when the show started, we had no idea what was happening on the island. Were they all dead? Were they abducted by aliens? Were they sucked into some kind of vortex in time and space? At the end of Season Two, we weren’t much further. We didn’t even know what was in that damn hatch!
Now we know. We know exactly what the island is, and we have a good working hypothesis on why it’s so messed up. Now, there’s still a lot of details to be filled in. And some of what we know might be lies or misdirection, but this season has given us the broad strokes of what’s happening and why. It’s moving much faster than season one.
Actually, now that I think about it, I think I can see why Season Two may seem much more slower.
In Season One, slow advancement of the plot or lack of discoveries about the island were offset by interesting discoveries about the characters (often from the flashbacks). Now it seems that they’ve shot their wad regarding the original survivors. There’s not much more to be said, and what remains mysterious (Locke and Kate, mostly) they’re holding in reserve.
Thus, the tail sectioners! Fresh, new characters to be revealed. I’d give Rambina time to be fleshed out. It was worth the wait for Sawyer and Jin, IMHO.
