Michelle Shocked SHOCKED to find that GAYmbling is going on in here!

Michelle Shocked wasn’t feeling very gay at her show last night.

A lot of people in the audience were angry, but they all bought tickets to a Michelle Shocked show- so I can’t really trust their opinion on anything.

In other news, Yoshi’s is now hiring for a press secretary.

Who the fuck is Michelle Shocked and why on earth would anyone give a shot about her homophobic opinion? Just another religious (no offense to sane, compassionate religious people) nutjob that doesn’t disappoint while they try to win brownie points in heaven.

ETA: Although it’s freaking hilarious that her necessary little bigoted soapbox has cost her gigs. Poor thing. May her hatred bite her in the ass.

In San Francisco she pulls this?

She’s either a diabolical mastermind, or a total idiot.

A one-hitter from 1988, with a song called “Anchorage”. I didn’t know she was still around.

She’s a folk-rock singer who was widely thought to be gay back in the 90’s. So its kinda amusing to find her being a homophobe (especially since I imagine most of her fanbase is going to be pretty passionate about gay rights). Apparently she’s found (a rather unpleasant version of) Jesus in the last few years.

Guess its off to the Christian music circuit.

Not so simple. She apparently had an awful lot of gay & lesbian fans. Coming from your average Christian rocker or something this wouldn’t have seemed odd. From her it sorta does, though she seemingly has been quietly trending in this direction for awhile.

But I thought Michelle Shocked was…

I’m, well, stunned.

Wow. I haven’t kept up with Michelle Shocked in years, but I always thought she was a lesbian. “Anchorage” is a great song.

Probably that blue-eyed one. Never did trust that guy.

Past tense, indeed. I imagine there’s some CD burning going on tonight, and not the piratical kind.

Imagine if she had said, “I’m bigger than gay Jesus.”

She’s not a lesbian? Really? Come on!

The irony is that if it weren’t for this video, they’d be no more gays.

Ah, so her career was even deader than it already was, so she’s now going the gullible / knee jerk route. Lame.

May gay Cthulhu torture her lots.

I always though “On the Greener Side” was her biggest hit. The music video is amusing, it was sort of a parody of Robert Palmer’s* “Addicted to Love”* video (except with hunky guys instead of blank-looking, generic supermodels) Kind of a catchy pop song too.

I also thought she looked a little lesbo-ish. She seemed part of that whole late 80s early 90s wave of chick singers who were gay (Melissa Etheridge, Indigo Girls, Tracy Chapman, Sophie B. Hawkins, KD Lang etc.) Certainly would never had pegged her as a holy roller!

Or batshit insane. People who do a sudden political 180 like she did are likely not in the best of health mentally. Her Wikipedia bio states that her mother put her in a mental hospital when she was a teenager. I’m beginning to think that perhaps she was on to something.

Yes, I had read that she allegedly had some mental issues at some point earlier in her life. Maybe she’s suffering from something similar again.

Emphasis on had at this point, I believe.

Shit.

I look forward to reading about how The Men They Couldn’t Hang are all now pro war LibDems, Stan Rogers has posthumously released his fascist manifesto, and a clarification by XTC that “Dear God” was actually an ironic takedown of atheism.
