Michelle Shocked SHOCKED to find that GAYmbling is going on in here!

Pretty much a non-apology. Shocked, like may other Christians, is willing to love everyone - but only on their own terms. They claim they don’t hate gays - but they want them to stop being gay.

Agreed, she could’ve handled it better. My summary would be that they twittered the night before, and Michelle wanted Sandler to read hear tweets on the show, Sandler was unwilling to do this, so, she thought, they agreed to do a live phone show. After getting Michelle’s voice mail a coulple of times, she started playing the audio from the Yoshi’s show and analyzing it a portion at a time. Then Michelle started tweeting, Sandler said, no, we’re not doing this, pick up your phone. She sonds like she’s reading a prepared statement a couple of times, they rant about the webcast delay (Sandler f bombs a couple of times) and that’s about it.

These are hardly in opposition to each other, I’d think.

Yeah, she’s toast. But she made a truly great album 20-odd years ago; a public meltdown doesn’t change that for me.

Ha! I’m flashing back because while I’ve never heard this song, I did stand many times outside the student union at the University of Texas and watch the Brother Jed and Sister Cindy show. She was indeed saved in the parking lot of a disco, which seemingly gave her the right to refer to female students as harlots and whores. All in good faith, however, as she was trying to save them from hellfire. The crowds really did give them a lot of shit, but inevitably a few people did follow them back into the Union to talk to them when the show was over.

IIRC Brother Jed was something like 25 years her senior, and they eventually married.

Carry on.

Please never mind this post. I need to read through all the posts before replying. Upon review, it’s clear that there was something quite other than music appreciation going on there and this post of mine was unhelpfully irrelevant.

But as far as that goes, Taj Mahal is very cool.

I was introduced to her music through a compilation so some of it is available. I see Amazon offers the Goofyfoot CD in MP3 format.

Everything is on iTunes as well so you can cherry-pick if you like.

There ya go. My iTunes has gone screwy; I can play music but can’t check the Store or access my iPod.

She’s gonna be on Piers Morgan monday night.

Determined to convince people that she’s not an angry nutjob, Michelle Shocked shows up outside of club that canceled her gig dressed in a “disposable safety unit,” with tape over her mouth, and strummed an acoustic guitar while pointing silently to handwritten posters over her head.

She’s on the path to rehabilitating her image, that’s for sure.
