Geez, Cranky, you could at least have posted a link. I mean, I had to go look it up and everything. It was SO traumatic…
Tsk. You wolverines…

Saturday dinner or Sunday lunch sounds good to me. I’ll watch this space (or your thread) and see what the group decides on.
Wow! Who knew there were so many local Michiganders on this board.
I live in the Lansing area (Leslie/Mason area to be specific) and am always up for meeting new ppl. Granted I’m pretty new to this board and don’t know anyone yet, but does that really matter? LOL
Ok I just emailed RALF, ** Qir nha , and ** tsarina. The deal with me and my soon-to-be wife who just flew in is that we have to do some BBQing this weekend with some members of my team. Evenings are best for me during the week, I can actually get away.
I have been doing some fishing as of late in the evenings, so if you see a tall blond haired guy with a cylinder and a net walking around give a yell, something like “Hey Cecil!!” and I’ll get it…
I’ve been warned about fishing on campus is a no-no. But with what I am doing for the museum They ought to grant me some leeway!!
Anyway, week days are tough, monday and tuesday I’m doing a survey in Potterville. I have no idea where that is but I know it’s about 40 -60 minutes away…right? I’ll be going with the team so getting away for a lunch may be difficult. I have plans on the fourth and fifth … I don’t want to tell team members I can’t make the plans, they’d be like, “what on earth could you have plans for, you don’t even live here.”
Anyway keep me posted, I check my mail fairly regularly.
Regards,
Antiquarian
I won’t be back until Sunday evening, so maybe I’ll skip the Williamston thing and just get together with the EL Dopers early next week. (I won’t know my work schedule until I get there on Monday - mosquito trapping is dependant on the weather and the whims of my supervisor - so I’ll just e-mail you guys once I know.)
Antiquarian and anyone else reading this thread… in case you haven’t caught the other thread, we’re planning on having dinner at the Williamston RoadHouse at 5:45 on Sunday. Williamston is close to Lansing and the Roadhouse is just north of the I-96 exit for Williamston. It’s a cute little town (so I hear) if you want to kick around for a bit before dinner.
I hope any of you who wish to can make it. So far it looks like me, HelloAgain, MrBlue92, Medea’s Child, and hopefully Persephone. Obviously it would be nice if the impetus for this dinner could make it (Antiquarian!) but I thought his earlier comments might indicate that he’s not available after all. I hope it works out, however, and the rest of you Michigan Dopers who have posted (or lurked) are quite welcome, too. It’d be helpful if you could email me (sixpackmomma@yahoo.com) so I know whether to tell the restaurant 6 or 16 diners. But even if it’s a last-minute decision, please come–we’ll make room at the table.
Cranky, I just e-mailed you offline, and RSVP’d. May I suggest that you tell the hostess/greeter at the restaurant that people will be asking for the “Cecil Adams party”? It’d make it easier to find you in the restaurant.
Antiquarian, it sounds like we may miss each other, unless you go walking around the river at lunch time. I may be out there on Monday or Tuesday, but I’m out of town for the rest of the week. Look for a 40-something white male, about 5’8", with glasses and a pronounced bald strip on top. Some people claim I look like George Castanzas, from “Seinfeld”. If you see me, say hello.
Be careful about fishing in the river, though. The campus police don’t always have a sense of humor.
Oh, and Potterville is maybe 20-30 minutes from campus, tops. It’s a nice little town. What are you doing out there?
