Michigan vs. Notre Dame: Who will be 0-3?

I was enjoying the game (obviously) but I kept wishing they wouldn’t show Charlie Weiss on screen anymore. I just felt BAD for the guy; it was bumming me out.

Does Northern Illinois play Notre Dame next year?

I can understand wanting to jump off a sinking ship, but the way Jones left was without any class. Don’t call anybody, just pack up and leave and enroll somewhere else? Just seems kinda crappy to me.

Well, if he felt he had some game, he certainly wasn’t going to get any burn sitting behind Claussen.

Okay, serious question…

Notre Dame’s next five games are as follows…

Michigan St.
@Purdue TBA
@UCLA 8:00pm
Boston College
Southern Cal.

What is the likelihood that ND goes 0-8?

I know UCLA got spanked today but they’re at home and you have to figure this week was a [massive] blip. Boston College and USC are almost certain losses. Michigan State and Purdue are middle of the pack but they ARE both 3-0. After today’s loss it seems quite possible.

It’d be something to see an 0-8 Notre Dame team.

I’d say an 0-8 Notre Dame looks like a distinct possibility. On the other hand, the Big Ten looks very weak, so ND might slip up on Michigan State or Purdue. Purdue has played such weak opponenets, who knows if they’re any good?

I don’t think so. I’m actually don’t think they’re ever played each other in football. (Although they faced each other in soccer weekend before last. Go figure …)

I very much enjoyed the ND loss. Even as an Illini (twice!), I hate ND more than any Big Ten team. They’re so arrogant about their football program and the media here in Chicago bows down to them constantly.

But there are loopholes in that contract. Last year’s game was between Central Michigan (MAC champion) and Middle Tennessee State, a non Big 10 team. Assuming ND can right the ship (not something even I, an ND alum, would put a nickel on at the moment), they could possibly qualify for the Motor City Bowl.

'Course, the way the Irish are playing, they may have to apply to join the MAC.

But he was starting for a distinctly second-tier school!

As for those f^@&ers going 0-8? Some team will dominate them for 45 minutes then find a way to hand them a victory, just like every year.

But we can all hope… Are they playing Navy this year? I’d like to see them end the streak, big.

They do, indeed, play Navy, and it will be the ninth game of the season. Wouldn’t it be funny to see an 0 - 8 Notre Dame team hoping to beat Navy again for their first win of the season??

Boy, do the alumni hate Ty Willingham now. Talk about someone who left the cupboard bare…

Wait, they’re still blaming the black guy? Are you serious?

CHARLIE WEISS COULDN’T EVEN COACH HIS PLAYERS TO SNAP THE BALL CORRECTLY!!! TY WILLINGHAM HAD NOTHING TO DO WITH THAT!!!
YEEEEEAHHHHHHHH!!! </dean>

What do you guys think of ND not allowing Jones out of his scholarship?

What? The success from the previous two seasons was mostly because of Willingham’s recruits.

Very stupid and spiteful on their part. Did the kid handle it well? No. But seriously, this will hurt their recruiting at least a little bit.

Lets hope it hurts as bad as an 0-11 season!

Here in Spartan Nation the anticipation is building. I can’t recall every being favored by this many. Look for Jonal Saint-Dic to live up to his reputation as Sackmaster. Heck, I’m even thinking this could be the year that Navy gets a win.

Go MSU!

A 0-4 Notre Dame would be oh, so very sweet.

They fire the coach, and then 3 years later blame him for not recruiting well the year he was canned?
Touchdown Jesus on a stick. It’s not like he jumped to the NFL.
Any fan who thinks like that deserves the agonies they are currently experiencing.

I don’t think it matters, actually. NIU doesn’t have any scholarships available for this year–and probably wouldn’t have planned on spending one on a player who couldn’t play for them this season anyway. And football scholarships are renewed annually; Notre Dame has no say in where Jones plays next year.

The whole thing just makes them look like idiots, actually. Well, like bigger idiots than they already looked … They’re backpedaling already, BTW. They’re claiming to be interested in ‘working with’ Jones to find an acceptable school for him to transfer to, as long as it’s not one that’s on or likely to be put on their schedule of opponents. Or, evidently, Northern.
