Michigan vs. Notre Dame: Who will be 0-3?

You know, it occurs to me that Michigan hasn’t won a game since Bo Schembechler died.

The poor Lions’ fans now have even given up their “Fire Millen” campaign.

Because our genius coach Charlie Weis hasn’t put in the spread offense yet, I’m afraid that the Wolverines will beat my Irish today.

You musta been teased alot by your classmates in Ann Arbor.

( I don’t like MIchigan and usually cheer for Ohio, too. )

I’m definitely wearing my Notre Dame jersey to a sports bar today to watch the game.

Nitpick: Beast is on the Avengers (or at least was at some point, I’m not sure whether the Avengers even still exist what with Civil War), Wolverine is with the New Avengers. And what X-Men teams was he on besides the second iteration (after Krakatoa)? New Mutants was just the students, and Wolverine definitely doesn’t qualify.

I’m kind of torn. On the one hand, my Chem prof said the test next week will be easier if Michigan wins. On the other hand, ND is my sister’s alma mater for two degrees.

I’m glad I don’t care about professional/college sports.

Just be glad you’re not this guy

I wish there were a way both teams could lose–I have an acquired hatred of Notre Dame just because the national press is ALWAYS on their jocks, while as an Illinois fan I’m required by law to hate Michigan.

Aw, hell, go Irish, just because I’m a law abiding citizen. Usually.

But my prediction: Michigan 30, Notre Dame 14

I thoroughly enjoyed this commentary from the NY Times, concerning the travails of these two teams.

In particular, the following comment warmed my heart with the tang of Schadenfreude:

May they score no touchdowns today, either. Suffer, you arrogant, overrated, pig-headed team.

Well, so far, so suffering.
I hope they run the score up.

2nd quarter, 31-0. This one’s over. No bowl for ND this year?

Nope, NBC is required to get Notre Dame into a bowl game. Even without 6 wins, I"m sure they’ll find a way.

Well, if they made it, they’d just lose it.

I suppose the Motor City Bowl would invite them.

Well, OSU won, and my alma mater, the University of Central Florida, gave Texas a run for their money.

I think they expected to trounce us, we kept it to a 3 point game. Go Knights!

Ya know, I spent the whole time watching this debacle and seeing just how badly ND sucks (and enjoying every second of it), but couldn’t help but wonder, “Gee, which prestegious bowl will these losers get invited to just because they are notre dame, and which more deserving team will get screwed at the end of the season?”.

I hope they lose every game on the schedual. But then the NCAA would have to change some rule to get them into a post-season game anyway.

10 minutes to the USC game! Fight On!

I think it’s more likely that they’ll be attending the Olive Garden never-ending pasta bowl :stuck_out_tongue:

Don’t knock it. That’s some tasty pasta.

Nah, it’s bland and inoffensive. ND should be right at home.

Nope. By contract, the Motor City Bowl is a MAC team (the champ, unless they get a better bowl) and a Big Ten team. Since ND pig-headedly refuses to join an actual conference, they won’t be at Ford Field in December.

Actually, it’s also to ensure that Michigan State gets into a bowl game every year.

Hey! As an MSU alum, I strongly protest!

We’re perfectly capable of missing out on bowl games, even with that one in the mix. :stuck_out_tongue:

Hey, this one cracks me up: Notre Dame’s first week starting quarterback , Demetrius Jones, has evidently jumped ship. To Northern Illinois University. :dubious: I just talked to someone up there, and if his understanding of the rules is correct, Jones won’t be able to play there this season. But the quick decision makes sense; he’s just inside the window to be eligible to join the team for next spring’s football team camp, giving him an opportunity to win the starting job for the 2008 season.

Yes, from starting for Notre Dame two weeks ago, he’s now giving up any chance to play football at all this season, just to have a chance to start for a distinctly second-tier school next year …
