Michigan vs. Ohio state.

Reason #438 why I’m glad I moved out of Columbus. No more of this OSU football nonsense.

For a little over a year I worked across the street from the Shoe, often on saturday mornings. I really really dreaded football season.

Midwesterners are not yankees!

As a native of Ohio and alumn of OSU, my loyalties are clear. I’m hoping for a rematch in the National Championship, if only to see the scowls of the USC fans around here when they get shut out.

Never happen. Rutgers is not that bad and OSU is not that good. OSU would be the way to bet, but I’d bet my house on a 3 TD spread.

You are as far as many Southerners are concerned. Personally I just consider you traffic hazards.

So far the count is 3 on the number of football-hating nerds who feel compelled to post to a thread dedicated exclusively to… football.

I can always count on at least 5. Don’t let me down, Dopers!!!

Who said I hated football? If you read my post you see that my main issue was having to work across the street from the stadium. It could have been ballroom dancing competitions going on for all I care, the problem was having a 10 minute commute suddenly take an hour or more.

Damn. That measn the count is back down to 2.

Sorry.

No, I didn’t. And I don’t think I want to.

I will always support Michigan over Ohio State. It’s a requirement for everyone else in the Big Ten to support Michigan no matter what.

Having said that, neither Michigan nor Ohio State can boast of back to back Rose Bowl victories. That belongs to a different Big Ten team.

You’re right to be proud of that fact, but it’s also true that, but for a couple of screwups by you cheeseheads, the Big Ten could boast that it took from 1902 (the first Rose Bowl game, won by Michigan) until 1961 before we (the Big Ten) lost one.

And I gotta say, that as an Illini, I’ll be rooting for OSU.

I dunno. I’d almost rather put up with Ohio drivers than Tennessee drivers.

I’m from Georgia, but lived in Chattanooga for about 6 months.

Without cranking up my blood pressure, let me just agree with your sentiment.

But then you get the Ohio Highway patrol. Famous pricks. Pull people over just to roust them . I have had many friends get cop grief just passing through Ohio.

I would like to post to say I totally feel the same way. I’ve lived in Ohio for mostly my whole life, and yeah, I watch the game. But honestly, I don’t think it matters at all to me. To make it worse, I’m going to be in Columbus this year… :smack:

How can the Big 10 be horrible when you’ve got 3 of them in the top ten?

Badger Fan who is peaved that they will be locked out of a BCS bowl game because only two from each division can go…
I wish the Badgers could play either one of them now. They might stand a chance. I can dream can’t I?

I think that complaint stems from the fact that the SOS for Wisconsin, and maybe even Michigan, appear to be extremely weak.

O. H.

Southern Cal seems to have the toughest schedule of the lot. Florida had UCF and Western Carolina in the mix. Notre Dame always feasts on the service academies. Arkansas got SE Missouri State and La-Monroe. Rutgers and West Virgnia had few challenging games. Wisconsin had W Illinois and Bowling Green, The only one of the teams closely behind UM-OSU in the rankings that had a truly tougher schedule was USC.

You seem to be taking into account only the OOC teams played. Why is that?

There isn’t much one can do about conference opponents. And every conference has a patsy or two. Too bad that Wisconsin had to miss the big boys this year but that’s just the breaks.

The non-conference games are where a school can decide to chew on meat or feast on creampuffs. Look at Texas playing Sam Houston State. Or Miami playing Florida International. Some schools are notorious for the soft schedules, and in my opinion they aren’t punished enough for it in the polls.
