Michigander Doping June 29

Miracle Fruit!!!

I’ve been wanting to try some for a long time so I’m looking forward to you bringing it, cmyk!

Hopefully it doesn’t rain too much on Sunday, if at all.

I’ll be bringing a couple of board games (Scrabble and Apples to Apples) in case people are interested.

I’ve heard about Apples to Apples but never had much of a chance to play, yay!

I’ve got a couple of extra non-board pals showing up too, maybe we’ll recruit them like we did Rikc.

2:30 works for me. Can we get a rough head count? (Since I’m bringing a food item, I’d like to some idea about how much to bring.)

A couple packs of dogs should do just fine.

Har-dee-har-har-HARRR!

Apples to Apples is the best game ever invented by humankind.

Okay, so here’s the thing. Three Bean salad, macaroni salad, or potato salad? I’ll make it tomorrow afternoon, whatever it becomes.

Macaroni, but only if there’s tuna in it. Because mac-tuna salad is the bestest thing about summer, really.

Or potato salad, because it’s the second yummiest. Helpful, aren’t I?

Oh, and uh…okay, if I’m shooting down Telegraph (I’m just a couple miles from Telegraph and Dixie) I assume I’d then take I-94 W, right?

And then what happens?

Dudette, you just said the most perfect answer. I think I make an extraordinary tuna mac salad. I just didn’t realize that I’m not the only person in the tri-county area who really loves it.

Head on down (or up, as it were) 94 until you see the signs for the airport. Merriman road is your exit, do make sure you head north on it, south will just get you a nice little ride into the airport and while looking at planes take off is sorta fun, detours at $4 a gallon aren’t.

Merriman (NORTH) about three miles. You’ll pass Van Born road, then see a blinking yellow light marking a left hand turn on Annapolis. Head left (West) on Annapolis, cruise a few blocks until you hit the stop sign on Gloria st. Right (North) at the stop sign and a block and a half later you’re at Taft-Optimist park. Easy peasy!

Obligatory Google Maps link.

That’s a great map! Of course, it’ll put you one residential street away from the park, but I’m sure you can knock on a few doors and someone’ll let you go thru their backyard and hop the fence. :dubious:
In other news, I just opened an early birthday present, yay me. I’m now the proud owner of a wee can of trivial pursuit cards, 80s edition specifically! I’m so gonna thrash alls you whippersnappers! shakes cane menacingly

Don’t forget to look for the giant fluffy cat that prowls the neighborhood.

Google directions practically have me getting from Clarkston to Wayne via the Zilwaukee Bridge. Okay, maybe not quite that bad, but it’s going to be an adventure. I’m packing clean underwear and a toothbrush, just in case.

Oh, and remember – I graduated from high school in 1981. I was around back in the days when MTV played music videos. I think we should play for money.

Rough tallies so far:

Me (plus boyfriend and 2 pals)
olives and dom and heller and cmyk and niko and Gman and rikc and LOUNE and Tracy and Fiver and phil417 and possibly Alistair McCello and Captain C.

So 17, give or take.

Food: 2 boxes Morningstar Grillers
2 packs hot dogs
guacamole, bean salad and dessert
chicken of unknown quantity
tuna-mac salad
cooler of beverages and miracle fruit
chips

I’ll make sure we have charcoal, fluid, fire, tongs/spatulas/giant fork, trays for cooked and uncooked meat, paper plates/napkins/cups/forks/etc. condiments, buns and a card table by the grill, bottled water, sunscreen and bathroom within walking distance. Be easy for me to whip up a pitcher of lemonade or iced tea for folks wanting uncarbonated things, as well.

Looks like we could use some meanburgers maybe? BYO umbrella, too, we’ve got a pavilion roof but who knows what’ll happen.

Also, I’ll be abusing this picnic for my own personal gains. You’ll see what I mean when I get there.

Don’t worry, it’s not painful or compulsory (but it is appreciated).

Oh god, you’re making balloon animals and will be putting out a tip jar, right?

I WISH!

That’d be friggin’ awesome.

You’re a nudist, and will be taking the time to sunbathe? And you’ll be putting out a tip jar.
