I have a website that was created using FrontPage 98 (I know, it’s old software).
Everything was fine until the ISP hosting the site had its server carried off by elves, or somesuch. With the new server, the website address changed from http://www.host.com/notmyrealwebsitename to http://webs.host.com/notmyrealwebsitename
I am now trying to update the site, but although the files seem to load OK when I publish the changes, there is an error message right at the end that says Cannot Update - recalculate links for “/”.
The ISP tech support has no solution and Microsoft (strange metallic disembodied tech support voice from Ukraine, as well as a resident newsgroup wizard) had little to offer beyond telling me to upgrade my “obsolete” software.
Anyone know how to get around this error message, or failing that, if I “upgrade” to a new FrontPage, is there a quick and dirty way to take the files already published to my website, and download them back into the new FrontPage on my computer so I can edit or add to them?
Thanks.
