So? You’re from LA.
I had TWO accidents today. One, I was rear-ended, the other, I rear-ended someone. What a terrific day.

We got freezing rain east of the Triangle and west of I-95 in NC. In addition to Cabbage and myself, we have a nice little cluster of folks down here: my wife Skulldigger, Tygr and Jkayla – light snow where they live, as we found out today, Aenea, Smooth Operator, YWalker, dogbutler (and one other Raleigh-ite whose screen name I forget), and at least part of the time the lovely and learned Fretful Porpentine, who is based in Virginia and pursuing graduate studies at UNC. We’re “Upper South” rather than “Mid-Atlantic” in the how-to-group-states-into-regions gimmickry of the US Census Bureau – but closer to Richmond and DC than to most of the rest of the South.
Theios, checking in…
As I mentioned in the snow threads, I was stuck at work in McLean. Went in Saturday evening and they wouldn’t let me leave until Tuesday morning. They did cram us all in the Hilton and feed us, so it wasn’t all bad. I’m waiting for them to quantify “handsomly rewarded”. Hopefuly, it will be lots of extra numbers in my paycheck and not just another gift certificate at Tysons.
My GFs did okay at home. They spent the time shoveling and watching movies. It looks to me like we got 24" of snow at home. GF #1 swears it was more though. Maybe I should go to the NOAA website and read about the correct way to measure snow.
We got about 22" here in beautiful Hyattsville, MD. My neighbors came over with a half-case of Guiness, we shoveled off the back porch, cranked up the barbie, and grilled chicken in the snow. A little shoveling is a small price to pay for a five day weekend.
I dug my truck out of the 3’ drifts in the parking lot, with little more than a dustpan and buckets. Since I have a 4x4, I hardly needed to do any of it. Then I walked around the complex, met a few neighbors, helped a few move their cars out. The place still looks like a war zone.
This is in Glen Burnie, by the way. Made it to work today. Yay!
Checking in from Frederick County, MD. We are finally free to leave our home, but there are massive piles of snow everywhere.
There is no school tomorrow YET AGAIN, and the kid and I are going insane. I think we’ll venture out to the bookstore and out to lunch tomorrow.
It was pretty on Sunday, but I’m done. I need spring.
That should be KIDS.
Verrain and I made it through without a problem, up here in Philadelphia. (We count, don’t we?!)
I went out briefly yesterday and almost got lost is a snow drift. Of course, I’m short, so that’s probably not saying much…
Centreville, VA here (right by Manassas, off of 66) with UndeadDude (who doesn’t post much anymore) and our son Dominic.
We loved the snow, and I’m hoping that some freak of weather will swoop in and give us even more.
I don’t get cabin fever, since I’m home all the time anyway. I only leave the house once every couple of weeks.
North of Towson checking in. The boyfriend and I dug out yesterday. Not exactly sure how much snow we got… I think about 30 inches?? I knew it was bad the other day when the very malls were closed!!
Southern Virginia, where we’re snow-free. Unfortunately, I’ll only be a MAD for another couple days, when I move down to Jacksonville, FL for a couple months, then up to Brunswick, ME.
Hey Creaky… how come you weren’t at my birthday party? HMM??? accusing stare
Mrrooowww… I’m sorry, Sweetie-Cat!! The boyfriend and I both had heavy-duty work schedules this past weekend, and we were also worried about the weather. I checked out the pics posted on your website, though… looked like a lot of fun, I must say!! I’m glad you and the other birthday honorees had a glorious day. I think the Rainforest Cafe is great fun, myself. Heh, especially when it “rains”. Scared the hell outta me the first time it did that, actually. I am such a maroon.
By the way, when the weather gets warmer, the boyfriend and I will be much more apt to venture out to Dopefests. Neither of us have a whole lot of energy in the winter. I suppose we’re in hibernation mode. Come spring, however, we’ll be ready to party!! So happy birthday, Catgirl! Glad you had a good one!
Former Viennan (lived like 200 yards from Neidhart) transplanted to the southwestern virginia area (Motto: Public Transportation? Y’huh?).
We got no snow. Well, okay. We got maybe 1/4 of an inch. But it did, by golly, rain a day straight. 28 hours, more like. I have never seen that much rain before. B and I were out with her dad at a mall. Game-playing ensued when we got home.
Boiling water (the water supply was kinda flooded, so the integrity of the sanitation process got kinda hurt there) was sure fun.
Regardless of my “location,” I’m in Foggy Bottom, Washington, DC.
Am I a MAD yet? Huh?
Yay, Foggy Bottom (I have a good friend who lives therebouts and supplies me with lodgings when I invade to visit the DC museums.)
Meself, I’m in [sub]South Jersey[/sub] the Philadelphia area and have been snowed in for the whole weekend; classes have been cancelled for the past two days.
Hey, are you going thru VP-30?? I work at NADEP Jax… And I will be back at work tomorrow - I’ll be flying south today. We dug the car out yesterday afternoon and drove into Glen Burnie for dinner - just to get outta here!! I’m decidedly snowed out for a while!!
Two inches of ice and sleet 45 minutes southeast of Raleigh. Couldn’t get out Monday, but that was it. I’ll take snow over ice any day.
28+ inches here in Baltimore and still digging out! The driveway is clear (thanks to a friend with a snowplow), the car is dug out (thanks to my neighbors) and the deck, porch and most of the sidewalk are clear (thanks to me and a girlfriend).
I’m grateful that I have a driveway and don’t have to park on the street. The news keeps saying that Baltimore is unique in putting lawn chairs in the spaces dug out. Is that true? Anyone not from Baltimore see people marking their spaces with chairs? Can’t say that I blame them. I’m just glad I don’t have to do it!
The biggest worry now is flooding. I guess I will try to shovel out the areas in front of my downspouts. The weekend could be messy! I’ll be in Virginia by then, but I sure don’t want to come back to a flooded basement!
Ugh, I was finally able to get out yesterday. I couldn’t get to Blockbuster for any movies so all I watched was Spinal Tap commentary. I have no idea how much I got, in Germantown, MD, but I can tell you that it’s over my knees so at least 20 some inches. I have no good snow shovel and the plastic one I do have is now broken. I almost went stir crazy. At least I had the Simpsons and Joe Millionare to watch!
