If there are any dopers from the NYC area attending and would give me a lift. I’d pay for gas and trolls. I mean tolls I think I can attened otherwise it looks like I will not be able to make it. I am supposed to go to a friends party sometime in Feb but she keeps forgetting to tell me the date.
Question:
Which would people prefer?
A) meet at a restaurant (one with a bar) and hang out there for the evening. You would pay for your food & drinks, there wouldn’t be much moving around freely, might be hard to hear people, might get kicked out of our tables after eating if they are busy…
or B) meet at the clubhouse at my development and hang out there. You would be encouraged but not required to chip in for booze and pizza or some other type of meal-food plus snacks (there is a liquor store 3 minutes away, and 2 grocery stores. We have a van. A pilgrimage could be made to get just the right stuff.) and to cover the rental of the place for the evening. Wandering around freely, talking to people, no background noise, no pesky other customers to worry about bothering…
Which sounds best to people, and I’ll start looking into the costs for that choice?

I would love to come for this shindig…and wish DaOpalCat a most bodacious birthday…but I don;t know if I can. I’ve gone to two of these…er, three of these things in the last couple of months, and I think Tark is getting sick of being left with the wee ones over the weekends, not to mention the fact that he misses me when I go (awwwwww…).
I’ll try, though.

Well, GF is too shy to attend. At the very least, I might be able to get her to bring me there & back.
Well the phone number to call to inquire about the clubhouse has been temporarily disconnected (“at the owner’s request” according to the message…??) but one of my neighbors said he thinks it is $200-$300 to rent it.
Anyway, the other alternative is Carlos O’Kelly’s, which is a mexican restaurant just up the street. They have a smaller dining room in the back that we could probably take over for the evening, and they have a bar. They also have karaoke but I don’t know if they do it on Saturday nights or not. Heh.
I haven’t seen anything new on this in awhile. Are we still on? Where are we doing this? Please update us…

Anyone up for breakfast at the Old Country Buffet? It’s one price for all you can eat and they lay out quite a spread. They only do breakfast on the weekends.
