The knight-errant is, as I see it, always aggressive but hardly ever rash. When foes are at hand, his first instinct is always to attack, but he is no berserker. He has every intention of living to a ripe old age and no desire to throw his life away, unless there were no other way to save the one he loves.

Five goblins would not unduly endanger the party and would be that many fewer to slay on the morrow.
