Gilraen thinks reforming is wise and that she, Ghân and the Rangers should try herbal heals instead of spells as every spell might prove vital.
Miron will work on recover the arrows and bullets here and see to Gellin. If he needs help, he’ll call for it. Deor was between Gilraen and Brin, mostly watching the passage back to the crypts.
Ghân can easily patch the bolt hole in Gwaelur and the earlier wound.
Gilraen has something for Hraedsig using Athelas of course. she then works on Thoroncir’s multiple wounds again admonishing him to be more careful. I need to keep my spells. Ghân assists her as Gwaelur’s would was simple. When done Thoroncir is the only injured one left and it is only 3 points.
In the meantime the party begins searching the east crypt with the reminder that at least 5 of these creatures are still alive. What precautions are taken?
Thoroncir quietly says to Gilraen, “You may consider me suitably chastened, my lady. I am determined to do my fair share in ridding Goblin Gate of evil, but I will try to be at least a little more careful. My thanks for your healing touch, yet again.” He clambers back up to his feet and is soon ready to search the east crypt.
Ghân was happy using his 4th level spell Produce Flame on the creatures that were strongly affected by it, but will usually cast Cure Serious Wounds (for 2d8+1, plus any Gilraen bonus) instead.
He’s content to use some herbal cures and Goodberries, as he has a lot of them!
Bitur suggests that the newcomers might better serve and be better served staying with the party, at least until we’re sure this level is clear. We really don’t want us all split and surrounded again. They can protect our rear while Gwaelur, Thoroncir,
Hraedsig and I protect the front.
Thoroncir agrees with Bitur. Very well, then. Let’s go into the east crypt. Perhaps Gilraen would sing her Song of Este and raise high her bauble again, as we go in?
She’ll be happy to do so and sounds like the party is willing to hold until the healing is done. Her song has not stopped yet as it also aids her and Ghân in healing.
Any specific methods used on the remaining monsters in the crypt holes and the remains of the monsters on the floor?
Miron and the rest are happy enough to do either. Stay behind as a rear guard or just lag behind the main party as needed.
Bitur agrees that that would be a fine strategy. And though it probably doesn’t need to be repeated at this point, he mentions that we not break ranks again unless the situation truly warrants it.
Bitur is right. We have to keep our formation. Let’s mop up these last few creatures and move on to the next area. If we keep it methodical it should be fast and safe.
Can you describe the holes in more detail? Are they large enough for someone to enter and fight? Can we see the creatures in the holes or are they too deep?
If we can go in and get them, I would be happy to do that.
Arrows would seem to be the best way. Actually, crossbow bolts would allow for a better reaction time, and I think Gwaelur’s heavy crossbow actually has better damage than our bows, especially with his nice +4 bolts.
Makes sense. Otherwise, Thoroncir would be glad to serve as bait (unless a “poor, innocent, defenseless Hobbit” would better fit the bill, quickly dropping back when the foe begins to emerge).
From Post 204 The ceiling is 9’ high and the East wall has **a series of 3’x2’ rectangular **holes every 5’ and 3’ layers high. This means 99 holes. Staggered along the floor are 11 stone altars. There is a door in the middle of the west wall of the room and a passage in the west in the north corner.
Keep in mind the central altar detected as evil as did the creatures.
So the holes are only 2’ high. Tough even for a Hobbit and impossible for anyone else.
