Well if you want to go toe to toe with a Wraith, feel free to protect the rest of us.
Mulligan will keep looking around from the front.
Kkósal bane hasn’t glowed before now. That’s why Thoroncir thinks our foe is now to our rear.

The bold purple underlined people indicate dark crags overhead.
A wight and six animated corpses come up behind.
Hraedsig tries to turn the animated corpses and fails.
Thoroncir slices through the first corpse with Cirist **
Hraedsig chops one with his sword and smashes it with his shield. It drops but is still moving.
Elfstan ducks under the wight’s evil looking black broadsword and hits with both ** Sting ** and ** Kkósal bane. The wight misses Elfstan who shot right past the wight and is not behind him. One corpse tries to hit him but also misses.
The rear most Dwarves release 3 crossbow bolts into the approaching monster and then the Dwarf next to Hraedsig attacks with torch and shield. The creature screeches and covers it’s face.
The wight goes for Thoroncir instead of Elfstan and swings but is blocked by his shield.
Thoroncir slices into the wight with Cirist ** and Elfstan backstabs it with ** Kkósal bane. This drops the wight and his sword clatters to the ground.
Hraedsig kicks the one he dropped last time and strikes the next one with sword, shield and sword and it is dropped to the ground. He moves forward and the Dwarves begin chopping up the first one he dropped.
Two flasks of oil strike the southern corpses and the rear Dwarf lights them up with his torch. The final one strikes Thoroncir but is stopped by his armor. Thoroncir’s second swing kills this one.
Elfstan quickly kills the one Hraedsig dropped last.
A shout from Sten alerts the group, “Above us!” as two drop on him and two on each of the other purple areas.
Gilraen watching, sings of Estë, Eärendil and Elbereth and her bauble flares and the corpses complete their fall dead.
The blades do not dim. Hraedsig Detects Evil on the black broadsword.
“Do not touch that Broadsword, anyone! It is evil and may be cursed. When there is a pause in battle, it must be sanctified.”
Thoroncir, breathing heavily from the fight, sheathes his longsword with relief and makes sure that the Dwarves who were fallen upon are all right. He will ask for Gilraen’s assistance if needed.
Can she or Hraedsig Sanctify the evil broadsword now, or should we just let it lay there?
Failing all else, Deor can take it in his cloak. Certainly no one should touch it directly.
As the magical artifacts have not yet dimmed, Sir Thoroncir suggests we resume our original formation and advance, taking care to keep an eye on the cave ceiling as we do.
If I may suggest otherwise, this attack from the rear demonstrates that we could be set upon from any direction in this cavern - it’s impossible to tell where there are passages or just hollows in these walls. It might be best to stay split as we are now. I would think that Gilraen and I should be at opposite ends, such that there is a chance to Turn undead quickly at any encounter (although my powers in that area are a dim candle to her sunlight).
Undead are still nearby, stay ready…
Bitur concurs with Hraesdig that we probably do want to split up the front liners for this. It also might be better for the frontliners to keep our ranged weapons at the ready rather than our melee weapons since it’s easier to drop ranged and draw melee than switching out the other way.
He also reminds everyone that we have to ready for attacks from below as well. If we have any incorporeal enemies, they won’t care about the floor. We almost encountered one of those yesterday as we were withdrawing.
Agreed. Brin, Ghân, join the rear contingent and give us more firepower there.

¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯_/¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯|NNN| The bold purple underlined people indicate dark crags overhead.
A Dwarf pulls out tongs and gently picks up the sword and deposits it into a leather sack another Dwarf hold open.
The party advances a distance down the hall and reorganizes. More animated goblin corpses coming charging in; this time from 4 sides and the roof in two locations. There is also another evil Wight.
Gilraen again sings of Estë, Eärendil and Elbereth as her bauble flares and the first 8 corpses from the north drop but another 8 come up quick.
Miron fires his +2 arrows into the corpse in front of him. He hits all three times but only appears to annoy it.
Brin fires his arrows and finds they do little good. Jari and Víli let loose two crossbow bolts. The Dwarves in the middle fight with shield, axe, hammer and torch. What does everyone else do?
Assuming the crossbow was at the ready, Bitur would have fired it and then dropped it, switching to axe and shield.
Bittur will also tell Jari, Gwaelur, and Vili to hold the line in the front, and instruct Sten and the Dwarves around him to secure the north passage unless Mulligan really wants to go toe-to-toe with the corpses.
Mulligan switches to the chalcedony bullets for extra anti-undead capability. She will also try and get Jari, Sven and a couple of other dwarves to hold the gap in front of her, while she tries her luck with the sling shots.
“I think we need to take down that Wight before the rest of these corpses will drop. Either that or total dismemberment.”
Thoroncir will first try his strongbow but, assuming it’s as ineffective as Miron and Brin have found with their arrows, will switch to longsword and hack away at any foe within reach. Elendil!
Bitur and Gwaelur are thinking alike. He also would have fired a volley (I know I had my bow at the ready) and then switched over to melee. As to the rest, Gwaelur is more than used to following orders from Bitur and does so without thinking in this instance.
I have one thing to say at this juncture:
Naur an edraith ammen!
Going to flaming swords and heading for the Wight. Cover me!
Just how long have you been waiting to do that.
Bitur Jari Vili form a shield wall with me to help provide cover for the Elf. As soon as I get in range I will blast the wight with my helm.
Heh. Combat bonuses vs undead, and +3 to Awesome. How could I not?
Naur dan i morgor! Naur an nin magollath! Gurth a nirnaeth na i coth!
