Middle Earth FA63 D&D Game: Fifth Adventure - War in Goblin Gate

There’s no way I’m fitting up those stairs, so I’ll wait patiently near the secret door.

Deor doesn’t relish being trapped in such a tight space, so he’ll stick near the men and dwarves.

Bitur will aid Gwaelur in checking out the secret door.

Hmm, if I wasn’t deep in the misty mountains it could almost be a cosy hobbit burrow.

Goblin ahead, well in these quarters it’s knife work, no room for a sling.

Time to use the injection dagger with the paralysis venom.

Ghân rejoins the party and reminds them he has one Stone Shape left (which could presumably take the hinges off the secret door).

The goblin shout a warning, “Elves are in the tunnels”. He lunges at Mulligan with his short sword. Mulligan evades but misses the goblin.

Mulligan gets a stab in first and connects and the goblin is paralyzed but Mulligan hears more goblins coming fast. She bolts back to the stairs and safety.
The door can be easily opened with the Stone Shape if the party desires. It will take much work with tools.

Sure, let’s open it with a spell. Even if goblins are close on Mulligan’s heels, they can only come down one at a time, and ought to be easily dispatched as they come.

I could also Knock it, if Ghan would rather save that spell. Either way, I think you all have got the goblins covered once we’re through, so I’ll hold fire.

What no opportunity to cut a throat and steal a purse

I must be slipping

Knock is fine, as it is designed to work on doors.
Stone Shape has other uses…

The goblin shouts a warning, “Elves are in the tunnels”.
Tee hee - Mulligan has transformed from hobbit to elf!

Deor knocks the secret door and a satisfying soft click is heard and it partially opens into the small room the party is in.

Three Goblins come charging down the stairs Mulligan came down from and Thoroncir greets them. He blocks the first spear and slices into the goblins gut. With a swift motion he withdraws Cirist and is ready for the next that halts and tosses to knives at his face. Thoroncir ducks, yells “watch out”, raises his shield and stabs upwards at full length. The goblin dances up the steps. The knives bounce off Hraedsig’s armor. Thoroncir pulls back as Mulligan whips a sling bullet at the goblin and smacks him hard enough in the thigh to cause him to tumble forward. The third goblin squeaks and runs off.

Bitur and Gwaelur have pried the door open and beyond it find a rough hewn chamber that is roughly oval. It stretches 30’ from the door and is 18’ wide at its greatest width. Inside is 3 more doors and no creatures.

I’ll get him. Try not to get into trouble in that room and make sure we don’t get surrounded by Orcs coming through the other sealed gate.

Mulligan hops up the stairs after the fleeing goblin.

Mulligan chases the goblin. The goblin is quicker up the stairs but Mulligan in her Elven Boots gains quickly and quietly on the goblin and stabs the goblin in the back for a quick gurgling kill.

She then hears it is quiet and heads back to her paralyzed victim to quickly dispatch him if possible. It is clear and he is now dead. She takes a moment to rifle his pockets and comes up with a decent knife and a small purse with 7 silvers and 12 coppers. She heads back as part of the party is investigating the new chamber.

Thoroncir, at the foot of the stairs, welcomes Mulligan back and will go with her into the just-opened room. Would Hraedsig like to keep or break the two goblins knives that were thrown at the knight-errant?

“Thank you, I do not need knives from those foul hands. Break 'em.”

Hraedsig will also enter the new room to investigate.

The goblin didn’t get away. So what do we have in here, three doors to look over.

Hmm, I’ll take the left, Gil-Gandel take the middle and Elfstan take the right.

Traps, locks and listening, the usual routine. Let’s see what we’ve got.

Those knives look to be of exceptional quality, be not so quick.

Elfstan is still missing come to think of it.

The Dwarves have broken down the gate. Everyone else is here. They want to know if they should guard this passage for you?

Ok, has anyone seen or heard from Elfstan or do I have to go see what he is up to. :dubious:

Probably a good idea to guard here and keep an eye on the door at the end.

Ok, fine, I’ll go find him.

The last post referring to Elfstan was post 1517. Now where could he have run off to…?

Gilraen, “I’ll go with you Mulligan unless Ghân is willing. I think there is another Hobbit in the hallway, should we call for help?”
