Matched by Thoroncir’s, although no one could see it under his helm.
I’ll let the warriors sort out the mess here while I keep an eye down one of the passageways just to make sure we are not disturbed.
I suggest you do the same Rorimac
Yes, and with the general carnage and confusion, any footprints in the dust should go largely unremarked.
Gil-Gandel and Mulligan both notice something as the goblin is dealt with; the dust burnt and appeared to burn swiftly. It was probably flour is Mulligan’s guess.
Bitur and Rüdan pull down the burning barricade and find 5 charred goblins behind it.
Rüdan suggests, “We should pull both guard groups to this point and then choose a direction to go down one of the wider tunnels.”
Ghân congratulates Deor and carefully follows the Fighters forward.
Agreed, I will keep an eye out the other way.
Sir Thoroncir agrees, and suggests we go to the right, all things apparently being equal.
Worked pretty well. Thanks, all.
“Our thanks to you. A quick ending to what might have cost lives is always preferable. Also, I am too handsome a Hobbit to die so soon.” he grins.
Ghân reminds Deor how well he did, because Fireball is so tricky to cast. (And this is one reason Ghân loves being a Druid, because he has Protection from Fire!)
And yet more thanks - that could have been quite a pinch, and was plainly set up as such, so your spell was worth many times its mere killing power. It is something to be a Wizard; why, soon Deor will be spoken of as one whose affairs it is not well to meddle in.
And now Rory has a tale to swap with his father, for such magicks are not commonplace in the Shire.
@Thoroncir: Agreed.
Óttarr, Rafin, Áki, Tobbe, Gedda & Fridi remain to guard the intersection.
The rest head off in double file. Rorimac finds signs that one goblin recently fled this way. Does the party speed up or follow with normal caution? Keep in mind the Dwarves are probably slower than the goblin and he would hear them coming if they are jogging.
No need to rush, I think. With our invisible scouts, we have a decent chance of not being surprised, as was just amply demonstrated.
I think the scouts can keep a steady pace following down this tunnel.
Regardless of what happens, I think the element of surprise that multiple dwarves are heading this way has already been lost.
When they get there is going to be the surprise
They clearly know that SOMEONE is coming. The faster we hit them, the less time they have to prepare. I’d suggest splitting the team for each corridor, but we may need the muscle if one side runs into something nasty. Perhaps we Hobbits should each take a side, see which is more traveled or would be more fruitful to explore.
Disagree. Keep the party together, say I.
I have to agree with Thoroncir. Best to keep the party together
Splitting up had lousy results yesterday. I say stick together.
I agree. Plus, Ghân will never let us live it down if we split up again and it goes bad
Yes - also, dashing headlong after goblins in their own tunnels will probably not end well. Keep the scouts out looking for foes, but everyone else in their place in the formation.
