Middle Earth FA63 D&D Game: Fifth Adventure - War in Goblin Gate

Rory can probably tell by the tracks. Mulligan should let him check first in fact.

All yours Rorimac.

Yes, please, if you would be so kind…

Hraedsig really does not want to have to go down another tiny goblin tunnel…

I will proceed ahead gladly. I’ll also look for any tracks of anything other than goblins-hopefully no giant spiders (shiver).

Sorry I haven’t posted more, been recovering from a birthday over the weekend.

Rorimac finds the goblin killed is the goblin tracked. The passage is very small and only goes back another 12’ then turns left and goes to another small door.

Nice one Rorimac. Lets go listen at the door and see what is down there.

Don’t worry all, we won’t open it unless we tell you first.

You hear nothing at the door but suddenly you hear the dim sound of a horn blowing and then Gil-Gandel calling out, “Group up, our rear guard needs help.”

The main party hears the horn call for help. Then Gil-Gandel, then he adds, “Dozens of goblins.”

Hreadsig unsheathes his sword, checks the straps on his shield, and focuses himself. “Time to die, vermin…”

Come on Rorimac, we need to make sure this bunch don’t get ambushed on the way to help out.

Let’s leave the door for later, we can always come back to it.

Agreed, but keep let’s keep an ear cocked just in case, to ensure we don’t get blindsided from this door.

Stay in formation. As usual, if we can arrange to engage somewhere where we can employ a dwarven shieldwall and our ranged attacks, we can fight off many times our number of goblins. Scouts, can you wedge this door from our side?

The party is swifter than the Dwarves. Does the party move ahead? The Dwarves should be safe enough and can call for help. There are but 6 in the rear guard.

Consider the door wedged, Gil-Gandel.

I think it wiser for the party, since we’re faster, to get there as soon as possible. The dwarves can catch up as they can. We don’t want our rear guard being overwhelmed.

I remind Throncir to stay in formation and not go charging any ballistas.

And Sir Thoroncir politely reminds his Dwarven friend Bitur that he didn’t go through that door with his shield up until the party was in position, and then only after the goblins had seen them. He will of course, and as ever, be just as careful as the situation and his honor permit.

Very well. At the double, all who are swift afoot! barely at a brisk trot himself

Ghân follows carefully, trying not to obstruct any Fighters.

The party races ahead, they hear the reassuring sound of Dwarves in Plate doing double time (and losing ground swiftly.)

They reach the combat. The Dwarves are holding a passage, back to back and shoulder to shoulder. War Shields on full defense everywhere. It appears they are holding their own.

There are at least 30 goblins. It is probably an ideal time for a spell.

Fireball is gone, so let’s go with a Sleep.
