If there’s an enemy leader or a caster, Ghân will drop a Summon Insects on him.
If a dwarf is badly injured, Ghân will Cure him.
Deor’s Sleep drops 11 of the goblins, relieving the far Dwarves. It leaves only 5 goblins on that side. There are 16 between the dwarves and the party. Bitur and Gwaelur are charging in just behind Hraedsig and Thoroncir is only a ¼ step behind them. Gil-Gandel and Ghân are the next group with the Hobbits hovering near Invisible Deor in case of the unexpected.
The goblins have just enough time to turn for Hraedsig and the rest. He skewers one with his sword and bashes another to death with his shield. Gwaelur swiftly does two in and Bitur another two. Thoroncir can only reach one but it dies just as swiftly.
Gil-Gandel’s arrows spells the end to 3 more. The Dwarves get 3 themselves leaving only 4 stunned goblins on this side.
I’ll just leave the fighting to those more able and err… more visible.
Well done, all, and especially our spellcasters! Anything on any of the goblins, particularly the four stunned ones, to mark them as officers? Otherwise, it’s the sword for them all.
Can we get a Detect Magic on them, or at least check for anything evidently well-made?
Ghân will wait for the battle to finish first before casting Detect Magic!
I guess I am checking pockets to see what we are going to turn up then. They won’t have any money on them though.
What…
Poor use of the word Stun by me. I meant they were shocked and awed, but they fight on (briefly).
The fight ends swifty. Gil-Gandel sends an arrow into the back of one goblin on the far side trying to flee.
As Mulligan is checking pockets and probably a few others, the Dwarves come stomping up. The pocket and pouch check is fruitless, small coins, not one gold.
Óttarr, Rafin, Áki, Tobbe, Gedda & Fridi all have minor injuries. Only Gedda took more than 4 and he took 9.
Can we heal those Dwarves, or do they just want to tough it out? After that, let’s go back where we were. I wonder if maybe we should simply leave the little door wedged and proceed down the main passageway, since that one goblin was dead and the whole party couldn’t safely go through the little door.
Herbal Healing can do most of the job of healing in this case. I am just waiting on the healer types.
Ghân will use Herbal healing and Goodberries.
Ghân with Rorimac’s aid can heal all the Dwarves using 5 of his 38 Goodberries and
Herbal Healing. This left two Dwarves, Tobbe & Gedda down 1hp each.
What does the party do next? The goblins came from two directions. Their tracks are utterly obliterated the way the party just returned but the other direction may be followed.
A clear lead might as well be followed. We are still in good shape and have most of our magic in reserve. Reform in the usual order.
Ok, time to lead the party then.
Rorimac, the lead is yours as you are the tracker here.
Sir Thoroncir sheathes his longsword and settles his helm more firmly on his head. Onward we go!
Rory take the lead and begins tracking where the goblin came from. The trail goes into a more normal size door. It leads up some stairs about 40’ and then several hundred feet to a mine area. The tunnels are not in great shape and might prove hazardous.
Perhaps some dwarves could take the lead here, as I suspect they can best evaluate the conditions of the tunnels?
My thoughts exactly.
Rüdan and Bitur with Gwaelur and Afi determine that the tunnel is very unsafe and can be a massive trap.
We could either send a single invisible scout ahead, if willing, or post a guard and take another route. Or even, with the Dwarves’ help, bring down the ceiling to close this area off. Any thoughts?
