Middle Earth FA63 D&D Game, the Game itself

Just to add an action:

Make it clear to the Orc Women and runts that they “stay here, don’t move, or they will regret it.”

Get two of the men to stay behind slightly to keep an eye on them and if any harm does come to the women and runts, harm will come to them. They may be bad, we don’t have to be.

Then move on.

Damn, this is fun!

Thoroncir, although wounded and with his longsword already slick with orc blood, will pursue the fleeing goblins. “Elendil!”

Can we give Theogrim some healing? Keep ears out for more sounds of trouble from the one remaining passage while we regroup. Not much need for stealth now.

Do the three of us meet up with Mulligan without further incident?

**Ghân ** is on his way to Theogrim, I wonder if he will cash in that last spell as a cure light or Berries.

**Mulligan ** does the right thing, but darn, I thought this would be cleaned up neatly by the prisoners.

Thoroncir, Gil-Gandel & Brin meet up with Mulligan and pursue the goblins.

Gwaelur, Theogrim, Deor and **Ghân ** remian in the main chamber. Just as well as there is still the last passage to guard.

The eight women and girls join them.

Can I assume, as I was trailing the gobos, one of which Mal took down, that I’ve met up with Mal?

Brin: The rest of the party is in the main chamber. Theogrim might need help. Take all the prisoners, I’ll see to the non-combatants.

To appleciders:

ETA: A day late and a dollar short again.

::Folds arms, raises eyebrow, taps foot:: :dubious:

Let the rest know about the Orc Women and runts and tell them exactly the same thing.

The tunnel is long and low, but our pursuit his heavy on their trail. It is rising up slowly.

Brin suspects it might be a backdoor of sorts.

With apologies to the tall folk, Mulligan breaks into a run knowing the three have his back. They must go slower as the tunnel is only 4’9" in places.

Mulligan overtakes the rear Goblin and hamstrings it. It turns to fight, but Mullgan leaps over the goblin’s blade and pursues the last one.

As the goblin gets up, Brin and his short sword appear as the last sight it will ever see.

Mulligan catches the last goblin as it breaks into daylight, it hesitates and turns to look for its companion and Mulligan stabs it through the back, dropping it.

**Note: The lead Uruk Hai is not dead but just down, I don’t think I made that clear. **

Ghân will cast a Goodberry (though he did want to cast Summon Insects on leader types…)
If there’s time he heals Theogrim.

Murdering people is not ‘cleaning up neatly’. :frowning:

Tie up any living orcs.

How down? Knocked out down or just on the ground?

Gwaelur will keep and eye on him as he is tied up if he is knocked out. If he is awake and still a threat I think I should finish him off. I am not badly hurt and he could be dangerous.

If someone will toss some rope on him, I’ll use Tie to keep out of danger.

Sounds like a good safe plan. I am sure Gwaelur is happy to oblige as Ghân works first on Theogrim and then you.

Theogrim was struck three times I believe, you can use up to three herbals on him and of course as many Goodberries as you wish. You produce… 7 with the spell.

I do recommend spreading them out a bit to the various injured. The do speed healing of bleeding. Sorry about the Summon Insects, by the time you were free to use it the battle was nearly over and I decided you probably would save the last spell.

The other orcs are all dead in the large chamber.

Heh heh, you bet I will. Do I get to question him later too?

Well done, all. Excellent effort, especially the fighters!

I’ll have a word with the released prisoners, making sure no-one needs tending, also find out anything they know about how things were run here, also where the orcs kept the dough  if possible.

I’m not used to such level of healing detail, so Ghân will use as many herbal cures as he can, then spread the Goodberries where they will do the most good.

Deor will pay attention as Ghan bandages the wounded.

"I think it might be about time to rest. We’ve rescued the prisoners, our spellcasters are exhausted, and we need more healing spells. No goblins escaped, right? This cave might be an excellent fortress for the night, at least once we’ve cleared out that last passage.

“I have no great longing to sleep in an orc-den, but needs must for those who are in no position to be choosy. I would prefer to stand sentry in the open air, as indeed will Moose I expect; I am able to wait for bed-rest until we are safe in Minas Tirith, and all well.”

Recover whatever arrows are usable, and if necessary scavenge spares from the orcs, though I hope they will not be needed.

Can we start a conversation about where we’re going next? It seems to me that we could escort the prisoners back to the city in a day or two, sell loot, identify stuff, and check in with Gimli.

Speaking of loot, is Mulligan ready to begin searching?

And can we start interrogating that tied-up orc now?

This all sounds good to me and also Ghân could stock up on herbal cures and Goodberries before we set out again.

First things first though - have we cleared out all the chambers and passageways?
How many exits are there? Is Moose happy staying outside on his own?

All but one passage has been checked.

You have rescued eight women and girls; all have been badly used for upwards of a month. The four men have been here between two weeks and 2 months. There are also the twelve orc women and 3 runts.

As to the treasures, well that was already being bundled up or on the four leaders. Gash in particular had some good valuables in that purse of his.

This reminds me; typically a group will have someone to keep track of the treasure list. Can someone please volunteer to do this? We have a scattering of stuff across many little battles now.

The cave should be a good place to rest, in talking to the 12 ex-prisoners it sounds like you got every orc.

**We need to send someone out to find Gimli and company and additionally Merry was going to send a company up to join us. Hopefully with some pack ponies and healers. **

Gil-Gandel can recover 6 of the 9 arrows shot in the caves and useful parts of the last three to make one from the parts. You complete wrecked one put it through a goblin.

Moose is fine staying outside by himself and is quite content. He had a good day.

What will the plan of interrogation be?

Who will go find the other party? There is some daylight left.

Glee how many herbal did you have left?

Ghân asks who can check the final passage. Maybe the scouts?

We should put the orc prisoners somewhere secure and reassure the freed humans. Where would they like to go to?

I’ll keep track of the treasure (unless someone else really wants to!)

Since Moose has to stay outside, and he’s tireless, how about if he goes back to guide Gimli and Merry?

As long as it’s just questions, Ghân doesn’t mind who asks. Suggestions:

 • how many used to be here in total? (this is so we can check against numbers killed)
 • was Gash in charge? Did he report to anyone? (did he use ‘far speech’?)
 • where did Gash sleep? (search it carefully for treasure)
 • what did Gash want to achieve?
 • do they know of any similar bands?

Before this combat, Ghân had 7 herbal cures, plus 4-5 foraged ones.
I think he could have used 3 on Theogrim, 2 on Gwaelur and 1 on Deor (each one doing 2hp).
(He also had 7hp from Goodberries to share out.)
