'Tis but a scratch.
Wouldn’t Theogrim be freed from the spell when the shaman died? What can we do to help him?
“Come, my friends, let us press forward!” Thoroncir says. “There’s more glory yet to be won this day!”

In answer to Thoroncir’s question, “Wouldn’t Theogrim be freed from the spell when the shaman died? What can we do to help him?”
Renee motions to lay pull him back quickly and lay him down. She is rifling through her pouches for some herbs or medicines. She does not stop singing.
<Not there Comment>
Wow, you guys have been busy
</ntc>
What am I doing attacking something with my silly little stick? Sheesh, that was lucky it worked!
I’d heal Thoroncir, but I suspect he’d rather I wait until Renee has a free moment. Still, I’m holding some Goodberries if he needs some healing. Keep an eye out for more enemies behind us.
Regrettably we must dispose of the sleepers. None of us likes it, but we are in no position to care for prisoners even if we managed to drag them around with us until we could win clear. I will take Theogrim’s place in the front rank until he recovers and we’ll hold our ground while he is being tended to, so [del]stop showing off in front of your girlfriend[/del] be easy for a moment there, bold Sea-Knight.
Ghân nods sad agreement with Gil-Gandel over the swift execution of the sleepers.
Further combat is imminent and we cannot keep fighting the same opponents. (They had Hold Person, we had Sleep - it was a fair fight.)
“Deor, you hold on to your Goodberries.”
Ghân uses 4 to cure Thoroncir.
(DM, that makes 8 in this combat on Thoroncir. Can more Goodberries be used on him later today?)
With 8 berries consumed by Thoroncir, the magic of the Goodberries will only serve to feed him now.
Deor assists Renee with Theogrim, worried but happy that Renee seems to know what is needed.
She deftly breaks a few leaves of Athelas under his nose and applies a cold compress to his forehead while elevating his legs.
She then puts a strong smell balm under his nose and he twitches a bit. The sound of her song speeds up a bit. She hastily writes out, this will help a little, from my understanding once the spell caster is dead, the spell will only last 4 minutes total. Hopefully the orcs will give us that much time. He is fine otherwise.
In the meantime, Mulligan has made it back to the first chamber, he thought about going up the stairs, but recalled that Deor will know if there is danger from that direction, thanks to Folca. It must be good to be a Wizard Mulligan thinks not for the last time.
The first two chambers are still clear and the secret door appears untouched. Mulligan is preparing to return.
While Deor & Renee are working on Theogrim, Gwaelur, Brin & Thoroncir quickly ensure the sleepers do not wake. Gil-Gandel and Ghân keep careful watch on the halls with missiles ready.
Oh good, everything clear so far, we still have a retreat option.
<Picks up a couple of Orc Daggers for wedging purposes to prevent having to use throwing daggers>
Back to the party I go.
Thanks a ton, Renee and Deor. Geez, this sucks.
Starharp, you are better with your bow in tight quarters than I, and my armor is thicker than yours. Allow me the front rank, if you would.
I resemble that remark.
After he’s helped kill the sleeping orcs, Thoroncir will search them to see if they have anything of value or of interest.
Certainly, Brin. I am far from helpless in a sword-fight, but I am better still with the bow.
We’ll hold our ground for the time it takes for Theogrim to recover, and be glad of a few minutes’ peace. If nothing’s come by then, we’ll head for that fire unless we can hear anything to suggest one direction over another. Stay alert, all; our foes may be saving their best until last.
Gwaelur is about as happy as a dwarf can be, killing orcs and taking names (or in this case just killing more orcs) is what he was born to do.
He takes a moment to breathe, and is ready to charge again.
Clearly those two cross-passages go somewhere- orcs came from there, so I think it’s likely that there’s something of interest back there or else the passages allow for enemies to double back and try to get behind us. If Mulligan can check that out, I’d feel even better about going forward.
When she’s done tending to Theogrim, perhaps Renee might heal Thoroncir…?
Let me know when I get back, so then I get to go and explore the other passageways. It’s fun being an invisible hobbit, although I will resist the urge to pick the other party member’s pockets
Deor, know you know why I said you should stay with the party.
Oh, anyone want a glass bullet as well?
No, you’re misunderstanding- I mean that I’ll feel better about the whole party advancing if you check things out ahead of us.
Actually, I was referring to your earlier comment about going back to check the passages. I said I would do it while you stayed with the party shortly before the fight.
Your Sleep was very effective indeed
Ghân has given you four more berries you are full when you eat them.
Mulligan returns and scouts to the left where glow of the fire is visible. The party forms up and waits. After 3 minutes had passed Theogrim was up and find. There is noise to the right, but none to the left.
The passage actually goes at a 45° angle forward of the main passage. The passage meets another passage heading at a 45° angle back down to the main passage. These two passages are 60’ long each. Mulligan discovers a small round chamber that is 50’ across. The ceiling is a giant Red Eye of Sauron. The fire is in the middle and there is a small alter on the far side of the room. There is also a single stone door in the room that would be parallel to the main passage where the party is waiting.
What does Mulligan do?
Mulligan resists the urge to play under the Eye of Sauron on the ceiling, but wishes he had bought some paintballs and a catapult.
Head back and let the party know what is there and that it look spooky but that there is not much there, no Orcs, just an altar and stuff with a single stone door and then suggest I head down the main passage to see if it does meet up with the room in some way.
