Miguel Cabrera rumors

Miguel Cabrera showed up for todays game with bruising and a scratch on his face. Leland was asked about it and said it was a personal matter and he would not discuss it. Cabrera slipped out without talking to the reporters.
Rumors on the nets say he was

  1. busted for drunk driving and cops beat him up
  2. he was in a fight after drinking in a bar with White Sox players
  3. his wife did it
  4. he was caught driving at .23
He is like 0 for 12 ,so rumor millers are active for an explanation. Any body got
    any real info?

He said it was his dog.

I know ,but that was not it. the story is untold. He did not have that kind of marks.

Rob Parker just verified the White Sox drinking story on TV. He said that was what several people told him. Said he was at a hotel drinking and the police had to be called to get control.

Detroit News:

Cabrera was out drinking with Chicago White Sox players. He came home at 6 am and got in a physical altercation with his wife. She called the cops. He winds up with a bruised and scratched face. His breathalyzer was .26. Dombrowski the GM bailed him out.
In August he went to the same bar. He was making fun of a young fat guy telling him he ought to work out. He would not stop and an altercation occurred.
The Tigers had a sit down after the first altercation and he promised to clean his act up and not to go back to the Rugby Bar. The second event came after he left the Rugby Bar.
His crime. He went 0 for 12 and hit into a couple double plays. His team has to wonder if he was hurting them in a pennant run. Management has to wonder if he has a problem. The fans feel cheated. They were in a close race for a long period and his drinking may be a reason they could miss the playoffs. That is a huge mistake. How much money i
How much money are the Tigers out? How badly did he let his team down? How are they going to react.
This scenario was supplied by the sportcasters on local TV and radio. It is corroborated by several sources.

I’m no tiger’s fan or anything, but .26 BAC is way to high to blow if he wasn’t a regular drinker. If someone who drinks heavily on the weekends only got up to .2 BAC they’d be stumbling/sleeping/no threat to anyone but himself.

If you’re up to .26 BACand still coherent enough to start up a fight, I’m guessing he’s been drinking heavy at least half of this season, or multiple seasons really. Too build up enough tolerance to be functional (not unconscious/puking) and still bea threat to your wife/family tells me he’s been hitting the bottle pretty damn hard for a while.

This sparked me to go find a BAC chart w/ effects listed:

here’s one. I’m assuming these are generalized effects for non-heavy drinkers.

I feel for the Tigers fans… I’d be supremely pissed if one of my Philly players pulled anything close to that, right before the fucking playoffs ferchristssake

So Cabrera went out drinking with some of the White Sox after Friday night’s game. Maybe he and the Chicago players were playing a drinking game: see who can blow their batting average on the breathalyzer first. I hear Brent Lillibridge won before he finished his first Shirley Temple.

If someone tells you Miguel Cabrera’s playing AA ball next year, he hasn’t been sent down to the minors. He’s just batting cleanup for the Alcoholics Anonymous winter league.

The next time he gets that drunk before a game, maybe Leyland should scratch him too.

Maybe if Miguel hadn’t so busy trying to slam 15 double shots of Jagermeister, he would’ve noticed his Chicago drinking buddies were sticking with agua. And laughing at him.
That’s all I got.

Maybe Tigers batting coach Lloyd McClendon should tell Cabrera if he sees three balls leaving the pitcher’s hand, he should aim for the middle one.

The biggest games of the year and he was getting totalled the night before. That is not smart . The team was teetering on the bring of blowing a 100 days at the top of the division. Getting that drunk the night before requires some recovery time. He is the clean up hitter and the biggest RBI man on the roster. How do you suppose the team mates feel ?

He was 0 for 7 on Sat and Sun, right?

This won’t be all blown over by this evening. Assuming he doesn’t pound the ball and Detroit loses (and that’s the way to bet), there will be a goat.
Hey, what did I say about the Tiggers not being much of a problem for New York?

He’s 0 for 11 in the past series against the White Sox.

Really, if he posted some hits in that timespan, we wouldn’t be having this discussion. Mountains and molehills and what not.

Cabrera just hit a 2 run homer. Tigers up 3 to zip. All is forgiven.

No it’s not.

I’m dumbfounded that anybody could be that insanely drunk and still show up at the ballpark in condition to walk on the field and play less than 12 hours later. Never mind that he played poorly; I can’t believe that he played at all.

Don’t believe the fallacy of the BAC chart. They are unreliable and the variation from person to person is dramatic. That we base felonies on them is one of the most absurd things in law.

However, considering the way that Cabrera ballooned up in weight since his days as a rookie in Florida heavy drinking would come as little surprise.

He’s always struggled with his weight, unless you’re saying he was a raving alcoholic in Florida too.

Does his wife think so?

Not now. They lost.
