“This guy is going to come, he’s going to try to hurt me, which I’m accustomed to. He’s going to be greatly mistaken.”
Probably true.
The lesser Paul at -500? WTH is that?
I don’t suppose there is much reasoning behind oddsmakers’ decisions, although there should be.
In what world is a child with no experience at boxing such a favorite? Tyson’s just going to have a heart attack or run out of steam at the end of round two? 58 is ancient in many sports, but this is a child without any history of heart or experience. At any sport, including boxing. No, MMA is not boxing.
So, given that the rules of this “exhibition” are not fully disclosed yet, it may well come down to a civil lawsuit to decide if whatever TKO is what was agreed upon.
IMHO this is a situation that encourages great cynicism on what used to be a sport.
Since I already pay for Netflix I’ll probably watch. I don’t see how anyone would pay to go watch live. That stadium holds 100,000 people. Are 100,000 people going to pay to see a sparring exhibition?
You can even bet on a child who has never fought anybody, much less a boxer, of any importance, regardless of age.
That’s an excellent question, and I’m not sure how the moneyline odds in any sport vary over time. Obviously, it’s not parimutuel betting, but I would further suggest that the oddsmakers really don’t have that much information about money placement. Maybe a bit more than “word on the street,” but how could they possibly know about actual money on the street? Online gambling sites probably sell that info to the “right” people. But that’s not all the money out there, fairly confident to say.
I don’t know. Never bet on a game or exhibition I’m not a participant in ever, nor some silly prop bet like if Palooka Joe comes out of his corner in the third with his head facing left or right.
What is the answer, anyway? I know there are gamblers here. Speak!
Anyone can bet on anything. I should say how can the legitimate bet sites take action on an exhibition? If there is a scorecard and judges fine. Like I said the Mayweather exhibition just ended. There was no declared winner.
It’s the entire topic of this thread and probably about 70% of the internet at this point.
We know a few things: (i) We don’t really know what rules are to be applied in what appears to be an exhibition match (ii) And eksetera.
I’d like to know more about the things one can know at this point. Namely, how the betting line odds vary, in general.
In specific, we already know what the lesser Paul and what Tyson have said in public so far. If they speak more, then it may be amusing.
If there is an actual argument to be made that the smaller Paul has fought anyone comparable to Iron Mike, past or present, then I wouldn’t mind hearing that as well.
I’d love to be proved wrong, but I’ve never heard any line about Jake Paul “is a seasoned boxer who has demonstrated his talent in the ring against challenging opponents.”
Then isn’t that one possible betting result? I mean, I don’t bet on anything. OK, not so much now as in the past. But can’t rules be come up with that adjudicate these results?
