He’s outwardly in incredible shape for his age. I still question his stamina. Having 2 minute rounds instead of three is a big advantage to him.
I played soccer my entire youth up until college. I wasn’t good but I played. Soccer is supposed to be the sport that requires the most stamina. I was more tired after 3 minutes in a ring than after an entire match. People who haven’t done combat sports don’t realize how draining it is. Just being in the clinch with someone who knows how to use their body weight drains the life out of you. Tyson is older than me. I can’t imagine getting in a ring for 30 seconds at my age. I’m going to hate to see an old man gassed in the 8th round.
Really? I played in high school and while I did plenty of running around as a midfielder, there were a lot of times when I was standing around in my designated area (a big area but still), waiting for the action to get into my area.
I never thought of it being the most demanding, stamina-wise. Basketball seems to have a lot more running around and nonstop action to me, and with tennis it’s typically you and one other person, and you only get breaks between points.
Also, I had my physical gifts (I could move fast and had decent footwork) but stamina wasn’t one of them, especially with my asthma, but I did okay, so I never thought of the sport as being that demanding.
All that is to say that I don’t doubt that boxing or any combat sport to drain more out of you. Look at boxers later in any fight and often they are barely on their feet.
I have a very clear memory of this. My instructor used me as an example to show an effective clinch. It just looks like they are hugging each other. Well sometimes it is but when it’s done right. First he held my arms with his forearms. It keep me from effectively striking him but little else. Then he really put in the clinch. Outwardly it probably didn’t look different. The difference was he put all his body weight on me while he maintained his balance. The best way I can describe it is if I had an energy gauge like in a video game. Once he put the clinch on I could visualize that gauge steadily heading towards empty. When done correctly the clinch can be more tiring than the fighting.
In all honesty I would never guess a clinch was so much of a strain. It looks like a guy desperately hanging onto another guy to stay on his feet and/or to keep him from punching. I had no clue that it sapped his endurance. But that makes sense.
Thanks for the info, that’s extremely interesting!
While on a flight this past Sunday, Tyson suffered a medical issue, which required paramedics to treat him once the flight landed.
After further examination from doctors this week, Tyson has been diagnosed with an ulcer, and instructed to only engage in “light training” for the next few weeks. His fight against Paul will be rescheduled.
I apologize if this is off-topic, but I don’t think so because a number of people participated in this thread have expressed confusion over who Jake Paul is. I gave this opinion earlier to explain why I had hoped that Paul does poorly in this bout (if it ever occurs). Here is a recent Legal Eagle video about Paul and his effort to silence crypto scam YouTube investigator Coffeezilla with a lawsuit.
In it, it’s noted that Coffeezilla is being defended by Mark Bankston. Bankston might be remembered as the lawyer who confronted Alex Jones in court, showing how Jones’ lawyers had somehow sent him the content of a hard drive that contained just about all of Jones’ data, and essentially proved the case against him.
Logan Paul gets into all kinds of fights, apparently.
