I think it’s the condescending tone, with the assumption the she’s the only one smart enough to think of using google.
And then everything becomes hills to die on, even positions where she’s clearly wrong.

Actually, I think she’s lying about googling this. Not actually knowing anything about the world, she just made a WAG that things are the same as wherever the fuck she lives.
Then when she got called out on it, she had to make up a story to pretend to have some credibility.
Either way, it’s strange.
Expecting other people to respect your words and appreciate your attempt but admitting you put contemptuously little effort into it? That’s just plain weird.
While I wouldn’t respect it, I’d at least understand putting up a front to playact at expertise. Or maybe that was the Google thing, but it takes a real special sort of ignorance to think anybody, especially anybody on this board, would accept that as a substitute for actual expertise.

I think she likes to participate, and for various reasons (including her medical issues, which sometimes make her foggy) she doesn’t always read the OP carefully, and sometimes misunderstands the question being asked as a result. And so she thinks she has something to add based on her general knowledge, even when her general knowledge is too general to be helpful for the specific question.
She also seems unable to admit she was ever wrong. I think that’s a different issue, though.
I dunno. I’m not denying other people’s experiences, but in many threads I have explained some things to her and she’s been receptive - so it’s not all the time, with zero exceptions. The one thing we probably won’t see eye to eye on is pornography.
Anyhow, friendliness goes a long way with me. I really just want to get along with people.
My experience has changed. About a year ago, she was constantly saying dumb shit, doubling down, then giving apologies that bordered on self-pity. Then something changed, and now she says dumb shit, doubles down, and then skips the apology and goes to the petulant self-pity accompanied by seventh-grade-level insults. I think she decided that the criticism she faces here isn’t ever legitimate but instead is backed by the Illuminati or some other shadowy cabal, and that’s given her the courage to ignore any criticism no matter how substantive and just blame the conspiracy against her.
Of course I don’t mind her blog posts. More power to her! The uninvited and ignorant responses in threads where she’d be better off listening and asking questions, though, get irksome.
I wouldn’t mind those so much if she would just say her stupid comments and then let it go if called on it, like most other posters.
It’s cases like this where she’s clearly wrong but just refuses to let it go and attacks the person who questioned her that elevates her from mildly annoying to intolerable.
I honestly don’t dislike Beck at all! I’ve found her, ‘bad, bad, bad’ threads to be somewhat amusing (although I FUCKING HATE her formatting-style), and whilst I get the teeth-gnashing from other posters, to me she is at times mildly irritating, but never to the point of chagrin.
And like others, on the ‘I fucking hate x poster’ scale, she barely registers. Oh, and thanks @Idle_Thoughts for reminding me of the good old days with curlcoat and ZPG. How on earth did we survive them, but get into conniptions with @Beckdawrek?

I only really get annoyed when she gets upset. I’ll admit I’ll skip a post if I think she doesn’t have anything to say, and I wish others would do so. But the only dislike is the frustration at not being able to get through to her that being a dick in the Pit means people are gonna be mean to you. So either embrace it or stop doing it.
Curlcoat and ZPG were far, far worse. As were pretty much anyone I can think of that would get threads like this. Heck, I’ve seen posts where I was worse, when I was all defensive. (They are why I am too embarrassed to invite friends here.)
If she’d confine her small-town chitchat to purely social threads, nobody would have a problem. And if she’d dump her no-experience rural speculations once and then say nothing further when other people correct her, it would be irritating but not infuriating.
The issue is that she snaps back at the corrections and reasserts her nonsense, requiring re-correction, eliciting further snippy pushback, ad nauseum, which derails and disrupts thread after thread. When I see a subject that interests me, I’ll subscribe to read the discussion, even if I’m not participating. But when it turns into the Beck Show, I snarl at the destruction of yet another potentially fruitful conversation, and unsubscribe.
That is the problem. It’s a regular, regular occurrence. I can think of two threads off the top of my head where a mod explicitly ejected her from the discussion because her behavior was so egregious.
It’s sad that this appears to be one of her primary social outlets. But that doesn’t excuse her pushy, prickly hijacking of so many threads.
Edit to add: And, yes, I put her on ignore a while back, but that achieves nothing when half the thread is dedicated to quoting her multiple replies and replying with repeated corrections and the discussion dissolves into pointless anarchy.
