Miller and Budweiser zestfully bitch slapping each other in King of Beers smackdown!

Catfight between Miller and AB

I don’t know if it will ever match the '80s Burger King-McDonald’s wars as far as pure meanness goes; on the other hand, it did give us the wonderful new word “traveshamockery.”

Miller and Budweiser both pale before the delicious cheapness (or cheap deliciousness) of PABST BLUE RIBBON!

I wouldn’t drink either one of these pisswaters, but I have to say that the Miller ad campaign is very well done. Budweiser just can’t seem to ramp up a decent response other than to hint darkly that Miller is owned by South African Breweries. Miller is all over them like a cheap suit.

Anheuser-Busch: Nah-uh!

Miller: Yah-huh!

No need to hint darkly about it, South African Breweries Plc in May 2002 said it would buy Miller Brewing Co. from Philip Morris Cos. for $5.6 billion. The company changed its name to SABMiller Plc when the transaction closed in July of that year.

Oh, yes, I recall reading about that in the papers and shaking my head.

The thing that really gets me about this “Beer War” is how not felt it is. I mean, these companies may be huge but who really gives a damn about their lousy beers when there is real beer out there to be drank.

It would be great if this actually served to throw all their usual patrons into other markets and killed both the companies. It would be a step in the right direction for beer lovers all over the country!

Down with watery blandness!!!
