What’s everyone’s preferred beer, Bud or Miller? I’m actually a Leinenkugel’s guy, but Miller owns 'em, so I say Miller…
Rodenbach Grand Cru
Q: Why is (insert bad domestic beer,i.e. Bud/Miller here) like having sex in a canoe?
A: It’s fucking close to water.
Sierra Nevada Celebration Ale!!
High brow beer drinkers so far…
No offense, but I have to go with Neither. About the lightest beer I’ll drink is Corona, and I usually prefer something more full-bodied than that. A good stout or bitter can’t be beat IMO.
I don’t like domestic ‘pilsner’ style piss water, but if I had to make a choice, I’d go with Miller.
Tedster,
Are you a hefeweizen drinker?
Spudweiser versus Swiller?
They’re both made with rice! Where’s the choice? Bud’s “beechwood aging” consists of tossing in a handfull of wood chips into the vat as it ages for several milleseconds. Miller, “The Champagne of bottled swill”, is almost, but not quite as bad.
Bud has won over the Hispanic community by liberally dosing their beer with salt. Thirsty? Drink a Bud. Lookie there, you’re thirsty again! What a coincidence!
Give me Danish Tuborg!
Well, if you’re a commie or a Christian you can’t go with Bud, because he won’t let you in his car. And if you enjoy going for drives you can’t go with Miller, because he thinks the more you drive the dumber you are. And if you’re in the non-performing side of show biz, you can’t go with Lite because “managing a pop group’s no job for a man.”
…Oh. This wasn’t about Repo Man? My bad…
Uh-oh, we’ve got some beer snobs on this thread.
My favorite beer- Miller Genuine Draft. In fact, I’m drinking one now.
By the way, do you know what my Mexican In Laws call MGD? …Mexicans Getting Drunk!
Nope.
Not a beer snob. The sad fact is, the US has mass produced swill at cheap prices, or yuppified fern-bar beer at 11.95 a six pack, not to mention in wimpy 12 ounce bottles. If you want to check out beer snobs, read the rec.brewing newsgroup sometime.
Prohibition pretty much killed the local breweries in the US, but europe-- those boys know how to brew beer, and it’s cheap-- maybe 9 bucks a case. Even the bluest of collars in europe gets good, cheap beer.
I have to laugh at “Lite” beer drinkers, since it’s made largely with the addition of filtered water. Only in America.
Yeah, I like my hefe, but it’s tough to get in the US, ruinously expensive, and pasteurized. I brew my own. If you want something done right…
I really like DIXIE it’s brewed in New Orleans. Best around Carnival season.
I’ve been known to swill High life on hot days tho, but I’d prefer a glass ofMaker’s Mark before any beer.
I like Guinness and Newcastle, and home brew also. I make a stout that makes Guninness taste like Miller. But given a choice of Bud or Miller, I’ll take Bud. My fridge is usually stocked with Rolling Rock and Busch as well as a few darker types.
I’m not real big on either of them (though I will drink almost any beer you’ll give me:D) I have to say Bud. I think most Miller products are lifeless, with no flavor at all. I’m not say Bud is great or anything, but it’s better than Miller by far. That’s not easy for me to say, living here in Milwaukee.
Who say’s ya can’t like both?
I used to run a restaurant that was also a microbrewery. I grew to prefer some of the more flavorful, robust brews with time, but sometimes, I still enjoy a nice domestic pilsner. Pilners and Lagers are legitimate beer, and as they go, Bud and Miller are ok. Nothing to write home about, but not the worse thing in the world either.
To me, a beer snob looking down his nose at an American Pilsner is like a wine snob looking down his nose at Bartles and James. They are not the same thing, and they are not trying to be. Sometimes I want a nice hoppy, crisp IPA. Other times, I may opt for the nutty smooth dry finish of a brown. And other times, I want to eat a pizza and not think about what I’m drinking.
As to the OP. I regularly drink both, but given a choice, I’ll pick a MGD. A little more flavor IHMO.
A joke: an exec from Miller and an exec from Bud get into a debate as to who’s beer is better. They decide to each send a sample of their beer to a lab for independent analysis.
A week later, they each get their results back, and they get together to compare results.
The Miller guy’s reads, “Nice malt, clean finish, crisp and refreshing”
The Bud guy’s reads, “Your horse is not pregnant, but it does have diabetes.”
IMHO, a debate as to whether donkey piss is better than ass piss belongs in the BBQ Pit.
But only if the Moderators there have thoroughly ticked me off beforehand.
Ha ha ha ha ha ha! Funny!
I’d have to say that the vast majority of American beers I’ve had are simply terrible…
I like Newcastle, Chimay, and Kreik (hope I spelled that correctly)
My grandfather always said, if you can see through a beer, it is not worth drinking. This coming from a German/Scotsman.
If I am drinking a domestic it is usually Shiner Bock (Shiner Bock, beer brewed with an attitude. Spoetzel Brewery, Shiner Texas). Imports are usually Belhaven or Guiness with a few bottles of Lindemens Raspberry Ale on occasion.
Well, I don’t really like beer (ducks), but I’m cheap so I buy Miller 'cause it’s not overpowering.
