Beer Non-snobs: Stand up and be counted!

Ya know… I enjoy a really good beer from time to time. I love stouts, porters, pale ales, and bocks. When I’m in some town with a good brewpub, I’ll stop in for a few.

But you know what I order at the bar? What I buy at the supermarket and take home with me? What I drink in the field?

Miller Light

And I’ll admit it! Yeah, yeah, yeah–I know all about how (Canadian, Australian, etc.) beer is stronger. And I know it tastes good. But what I like even more is paying only $10/case for a beer that I actually like!

Venturing from GQ and going out on a limb for the first time,

Pantellerite

…who is looking forward to a few Miller Lights this evening.

Ummmm…I like Coors Lite. Closest to water and good for a cheap buzz.

Philistine.

Hey, I drink “Bob’s BathTub Beer”, allways fresh, less than 48hrs old.

I like really good, high brow beer. That’s what I drink when my dad’s footing the bill. But for Tuesday evening after the kids are in bed, you can’t beat “The Champagne of Beers”. Especially for $2.79 for an 8-pack of 7-oz. bottles at Kroger. That’s the regular price. It’s sometimes cheaper on the “card”.

Careful with that axe, Eugene.

I drink it all. I buy it all, too. Usually my fridge consists of at least one six of high-falutin’ microbrew, and one six of Miller (The Champagne of Beers), Coors Light, or Bud.

American style Pilsner is an essential while motorcycling. Not only is it a great thirst quencher for hot days, but the alcohol contents is low enough that it doesn’t bother me to have one and then get back on the bike. A microbrew, on the other hand, requires some time before I feel OK to be on a motorcycle.

I’m not a beer drinker, but I’ll pass on my Dad’s favorite of many years: PBR. Yep, that stuff that claims to be beer but has just had the shadow of a Heinkan bottle passed over it before they stick it in the can.

Pabst: the drink of rednecks.

Welcome to MPSIMS Pantellerite!

I used to drink Miller Lite - lowest calorie beer, you know. Now it’s just too lite for my taste. I’ve upgraded to Miller Genuine Draft Light.

When I’m not thinking about my waistline, I buy twelves of Molson Golden and Leinenkugel Honey Weiss.

You have the right to remain silent. Anything you say will be misquoted, then used against you.

Coors = Rocky Mtn. Pee Water < giggle >

I am a Molson Ice girl myself. Alcohol content is higher and for a 12 pack is reasonably priced. You get more “bang” for your buck

Mon frere! I drink Bud Light and yes, I enjoy it! Of course, I also drink those fruit-flavored “Blackberry Merlot” things. I just have tacky tastes in alcohol.

Catrandom

Ok - I know I’m risking a lot here admitting this - OLD STYLE. That’s ALL I drink. And if I can’t get it at a bar, I’ll drink a bud and not go there again.

I’m a total beer snob… microbrews and imports only… in fact i’m an alcohol snob in general.

You always use violence. I should’ve ordered glutinous rice chicken.

My husband is an MGD man. I like Coors Light, myself, largely for old times sake – Coors was my Grandma’s beer-of-choice. Generally, though, I just buy a case of MGD every payday for my old man and, if I want a beer, I drink one of his. I guess you could say my beer policy is modeled on Dave Barry’s beer policy: Drink it and look around for more.

Full of 'satiable curtiosity

Whatever is on sale. Except Bud.

If I’m buying for others or for a special occasion it’s usually Shiner Bock or Tecate. I like microbrews, but only on tap.

My favorite non-snob beer is Miller High Life. Yikes! Can’t find it at bars too often. Usually, if I’m slummin’ it, I’ll drink Bud, but that’s mostly because my husband goes and gets me my drinks. He’s Australian and he drinks Bud because it’s the easiest thing for him to order here in the U.S. - people tend to have a hard time understanding his accent and in a loud, overcrowded bar, “Bud” is easy for a bartender to understand. He’s a Tooey’s man, though, in real life.

Missy, I’m with you.

I caught ALL kinds of shit at the Chicago Doper Beer Blast last November for drinking Old Style…from UncleBeer, android, Gaudere, ValerieBlaise, Omniscient, Jophiel (boli and ChrisCTP were all right with it, but they edged closer to the other guys).

My feeling was “Hey, it’s Chicago. Old Style for mine. I can GET a Harp’s Lager or a Sam Adams in New York City. But only here, in the City of Big Shoulders, can I wrap my lips around a frosty, refreshing, delicious OLD STYLE.”

My home fridge is FULL of Fucking-Near-Water…Busch, Stroh’s, Schlitz, Pabst Blue Ribbon, whatever’s on sale at the Beer Store. Plus a few bottles of Labatt’s or Peroni or Guinness, just in case Unc or Gaudere drops by.

“Beer. It’s a GOOD idea. Again.”

As a matter of fact, I picked up some MGD light last night instead of Miller Lite. Why? Because it was on sale–$0.50 cheaper than Miller Lite! Good stuff, too. No Miller prodcut has ever let me down. (Thanks for the welcome!)

I’ll buy Shiner when it’s on sale. But for a good Cheap Texas Beer Buzz, it’s gotta be PEARL. My local bar sells it for $1/can for those patrons whose wallets have grown thin. Not that I drink Pearl regularly… anymore.
