Mind doing my project questionnaire? It's only short.

It’s only a little bit from my food tech project, if you guys can think of some amazing questions, them I would be very thankful if you posted them here! It’s the holidays here so I can’t really ask many people I know, so what better place than the internet. It would be much appreciated if you guys could answer these questions.

  1. Are you more likely to buy something as a whole or in a single portion for personal consumption?

- Single portion

@ - Whole

  1. Are you more likely to buy something if it’s organic, even if it’s slightly more expensive than an un-organic version?

- Yes

@ - No

  1. What is your favourite type of fruit?

- Citrus fruits

@ - Melons
 - Berries
~- Peaches, plums, apricots etc.
§ - Other

  1. Whole
  2. No
  3. Berries

What a strange way to code a questionnaire. They have these things, now, called “numbers” and “letters.” They’re all the rage.

What do you mean, “as a whole” (question 1)? Do you mean like a whole watermelon, as opposed to something the produce guy already cut up, or like a side of beef?

And I guess it probably matters to your question whether you’ve got single shoppers only buying food for themselves, or someone shopping for a family. I don’t remember the last time I bought just one portion of anything, barring last night’s steak. I was alone last night and had a craving (and boy, was it good!) But I usually shop for the family, and buy more than one item.

I don’t buy organic, although I do grow my vegetables that way.

And I don’t care for fruit, unless you’re going to be a stickler and count tomatoes. And I don’t buy those anyway - they’re only worth eating if they’re homegrown.

Haha, I wouldn’t do this project if I didn’t have to, these questions are the easiest to analyse for me.

Hey, the last people who asked me these kinds of questions were good enough to give me a coupon book that I never, ever used. I expect at least a nice “Thank You” afterwards…

Your answers

  1. @ Whole
  2. #. After reading My Year of Meats… definitely. #
  3. @ I’m a melon man.
  1. Single portion of vegetables or meat. I’ll take the biggest container of ice cream, thank you.

  2. @ No

Stone fruit (peaches, etc)

  1. Are you more likely to buy something as a whole or in a single portion for personal consumption?

- Single portion

@ - Whole
Well, sometimes it depends on what it is, but usually # single portion, so it won’t go bad.

  1. Are you more likely to buy something if it’s organic, even if it’s slightly more expensive than an un-organic version?

- Yes

@ - No
@ no all the way. I don’t care about the planet.

  1. What is your favourite type of fruit?

- Citrus fruits

@ - Melons
 - Berries
~- Peaches, plums, apricots etc.

[/QUOTE]

That’s a toughie, as I really like oranges and watermelon, but I’ll have to go with  - Berries (strawberries, raspberries and blackberries are the best).

~

  1. @ Whole portions or large boxes usually, even with my family of just 2. If I’m buying something to eat immediately, then maybe individual.

  2. Un-organic.

  3. Grapes and apples, but I don’t know how to make whatever that symbol is, am I disqualified? :stuck_out_tongue:

@
and what’s that little box thing for berries?

No, we will not do your homework for you.

Please don’t do this again, Ortonia.

Bump.
And answers

  1. Whole - I eat leftovers
  2. No - ‘organic’ means little to nothing on the grocery shelves of this country
  3. Where’s the apple and pear category?

Ortonia, please see this thread for an explanation of what happened here.

  1. @ - Whole

  2. @ - No

  3. - Citrus fruits

  1. @ whole. If it’s something I like enough to buy, I’ll probably eat it all before the expiration date. Freezers are neat.

  2. @ nope. Things that use fertilizers and pesticides can be called “organic” anyway as long as they’re not chemical fertilizers and pesticides. Poop is probably cheaper than pesticide, so I don’t think the prices are realistic. For organic juice $1.99 for 8oz I want to see someone on their hands and knees weeding and fending off bugs with a fly swatter.

  3.  Mmmm strawberries

  1. Single portion; I’m a single guy and that makes the most sense for me.

  2. Sure, I’ll pay a bit more for organic, but it needs to have direct benefits for me, not just for The Earth. I happen to think organic bananas are tastier than the regular kind, for example. I coudn’t care less about my dish soap. I buy the products I like that are at a reasonable price.

  3. Apples and bananas are the standard fruits I buy. Most everything else is too perishable, too expensive, or too much trouble to buy on a regular basis.

  4. What’s with your crazy symbols? I too have had classes which invovled doing a survey. You’re supposed to make it easier for people, not harder!
