It’s only a little bit from my food tech project, if you guys can think of some amazing questions, them I would be very thankful if you posted them here! It’s the holidays here so I can’t really ask many people I know, so what better place than the internet. It would be much appreciated if you guys could answer these questions.
Are you more likely to buy something as a whole or in a single portion for personal consumption?
- Single portion
@ - Whole
Are you more likely to buy something if it’s organic, even if it’s slightly more expensive than an un-organic version?
- Yes
@ - No
What is your favourite type of fruit?
- Citrus fruits
@ - Melons
- Berries
~- Peaches, plums, apricots etc.
§ - Other
What do you mean, “as a whole” (question 1)? Do you mean like a whole watermelon, as opposed to something the produce guy already cut up, or like a side of beef?
And I guess it probably matters to your question whether you’ve got single shoppers only buying food for themselves, or someone shopping for a family. I don’t remember the last time I bought just one portion of anything, barring last night’s steak. I was alone last night and had a craving (and boy, was it good!) But I usually shop for the family, and buy more than one item.
I don’t buy organic, although I do grow my vegetables that way.
And I don’t care for fruit, unless you’re going to be a stickler and count tomatoes. And I don’t buy those anyway - they’re only worth eating if they’re homegrown.
Hey, the last people who asked me these kinds of questions were good enough to give me a coupon book that I never, ever used. I expect at least a nice “Thank You” afterwards…
What about
Egg question (organic, fre range or regular)
Chocolate (European or American)
Milk (Skimmed, Semi, Whole)
Why (I have to, I am mad, I need it for course work, all of hte above)

@ - Whole Well, sometimes it depends on what it is, but usually # single portion, so it won’t go bad.

- Yes
@ - No @ no all the way. I don’t care about the planet.

That’s a toughie, as I really like oranges and watermelon, but I’ll have to go with - Berries (strawberries, raspberries and blackberries are the best).
@ whole. If it’s something I like enough to buy, I’ll probably eat it all before the expiration date. Freezers are neat.
@ nope. Things that use fertilizers and pesticides can be called “organic” anyway as long as they’re not chemical fertilizers and pesticides. Poop is probably cheaper than pesticide, so I don’t think the prices are realistic. For organic juice $1.99 for 8oz I want to see someone on their hands and knees weeding and fending off bugs with a fly swatter.
Single portion; I’m a single guy and that makes the most sense for me.
Sure, I’ll pay a bit more for organic, but it needs to have direct benefits for me, not just for The Earth. I happen to think organic bananas are tastier than the regular kind, for example. I coudn’t care less about my dish soap. I buy the products I like that are at a reasonable price.
Apples and bananas are the standard fruits I buy. Most everything else is too perishable, too expensive, or too much trouble to buy on a regular basis.
What’s with your crazy symbols? I too have had classes which invovled doing a survey. You’re supposed to make it easier for people, not harder!
