Hamadryad will be making a trip out West for a wedding so we’ve decided to have a little get together in her honor. It’ll be Thursday, August 24th at the Dave & Busters in Milpitas (Great Mall) around noonish. I’ll try to get there a bit early, that way everyone can just look for the horribly bad bleach job. It’s not BART accesable, but if anyone wants to take BART to Union City, I can give them a ride from there. (I believe I’m picking up SeaDiver and Pepperlandgirl, so I have room for one or two more.) Please be advised you’ll have to wait for me to wander around the mall for an hour or so to sober up.

(They used to have maps of each location, I was hoping to point out where we’d most likely be, which is the Grand Dining room, behind the main bar, but I suppose any latecomers could just wander in and look for us or ask for the Cecil/Straightdope group.) Lemme know who’s interested so I have an approximate headcount. THX! Hope we have a large turnout…did I mention SEADIVER will be there!!!

let’s try that…I forgot to mention, although it’s an entertainment center geared towards adults, all ages are welcome. I believe they card you on the way in and stamp your hand if you’re underage. (If you’re under 18, I think you have to be accompanied by an adult, but if anyone IS that’s interested, I can see if leaving word with the doorman is sufficient…let me know.)
Thursday at noonish? Well, I have a previous commitment…school. It sucks, but that’s the way it is. So I guess you have extra room in your car

I’m not expecting a really big turnout due to the day and time, but since it started out being just Hama and me I figured I’d throw it out there and see what I caught.

I’ve been to Dave and Busters in Fort Lauderdale; what gives you the idea that they card for under 18? Did I not read your post correctly? I mean, the place is built around a huge room filled with video games. It’s made for children. Are they doing something differently out there in San Francisco?

Apparently so, because I’ve been carded on the way in a couple times, and I’m damn near 30. I believe the policy is 18 and over, unless you’re accompanied by an adult, and 18 (or maybe 21) and over ONLY after 10. At this location anyways.
Just want sort of ‘entertainment’ are you planning, you vixen you! Would my wife approve?

Well, August 14 has crept up on us, this 24th shindig is only 10 days away (I can add!!), so here’re a few questions:

I’m hoping folks are still interested…I’m going to be on the West Coast for only the second time in my life (first time was college, football game in Fresno, don’t ask) and therefore will MISS the Norfolk Dopefest that’s only 2 hours from my HOUSE, so…
You betcha we’re still on. I was gonna post next week and remind everyone, but this is just as good I suspect. I’m sure we all wrote it on our calendars, right?
AND since there was some confusion earlier in the thread about the age policies of said location, I picked up a list of “House Policies” when SeaDiver and I were there for GaWd’s birthday last week. In a nutshell:
*Guests under the age of 21 must be accompanied by parent or guardian (person 25 years of age or older who agrees to be responsible for the underage guest.)
*One parent or guardian can accompany up to a maximum of 3 underage guests. Underage guests must remain with guradian.
*Underage guests are welcome to stay until 10pm and until 11pm during summer hours, unless already seated in the dining room.

*Appropriate, clean attire is required. Men’s shirts must have sleeves; no men’s tank tops. (!?!) I guess if you’re female though you can let it all hang out? LOL!
So far I’m picking up SeaDiver at BART and possibly Troy McClure. I have room for one more if anyone wants to go that route.
