Mislabeled wine. How often does this happen?

I’ m semi-retired (retired but with a part-time job). I had to work a shift tonight but I told my wife I’d like some wine when I get home. So while I was at work she bought me some of my favorite cheap wine, a bottle of Carlo Rossi Rhine.

Or so she thought. The label said Rhine, and the label was fully affixed. But the first thing I noticed was how dark the liquid in the bottle looked. Much darker than this brand of Rhine usually does. The cap was fully sealed.

When I cracked it open I noticed it in no way smelled like Rhine wine. After a taste I came to the conclusion that this is Carlo Rossi Chardonnay. I have had enough of both to know what I’m talking about.

So WTF?

AFAIK this is the first time I’ve ever gotten mislabeled wine. How often does this happen? Especially for such a big seller like Rossi?
