Count me as another former charter member who stopped renewing because of the hostile tone of the board in the past, and no change since then. I’m not going to pay when I sometimes need to step away from the board for months because the vibe is so vile.

I am TIRED of seeing the same posters pretend that they have no idea what is offensive. In many cases it is obvious they DO know exactly what they’re doing and they post awful things anyway knowing it will be upsetting.
And if they really are not capable of getting it, then I’m okay with banning them. Seriously, if you are too much of an asshole or too stupid to get some of this stuff, then just go away. Go find some place else to spew your vileness.
That “joke” of Shodan’s should have resulted in a suspension. That was vile and he KNEW it was vile when he posted it. Oops, posted a rape joke, so sorry - that should not be the end of it.

For future reference, there is as a mod: find an early post of yours, use the copy post field to duplicate the post in the old thread to the the thread you want to insert your early post in, then “edit” it by completely rewriting the OP. Since your earlier post is older than the new thread, your post gets inserted at the top. It’s a couple of steps, but it’s possible*.
I didn’t explain the method very well, but if you care, I’ll PM you instructions
*I just checked on GB. It took longer to write the crappy post above than it did to actually just DO it.
Easier method:
- Quote the post from another poster.
- Copy the whole thing (including quote tags) to your clipboard.
- Start a new thread.
- Type your stuff.
- Paste the post you’re quoting.
Everyone can do that, and it’s clear that you’re responding to someone else, and that they’re not choosing to post in the new thread. Cleaner, probably easier :).

It actually works quite well. You permabox someone so they can only post in that forum and not spread their BS all over the board. Posters can opt to go in the box to engage with them if they like. And most of the time, someone who is permaboxed elects to leave on their own because it’s no fun being stuck in there and rambling to a handful of posters. It’s a win-win.
