Miss Piggy Zings Fox News

Well, a commentator on Fox News earlier in the year accused the Muppets of being Communist stooges promoting a socialist ideology. SO naturally Kermit and Miss Piggy were asked about this at a press confectioner for the UK premier.

Will FOX news take it in humor as they should or will they get the panties in a bunch over it?

As Miss Piggy points out at the end of that clip, if FOX gets into a mudslinging contest with a bunch of puppets, they’ve already lost. It’ll be on The Daily Show, but it won’t be on FOX at all.

Mmm, press confectionery.

I really needed a laugh today, and that did it!

The old quip about mud-wrestling with a pig also comes to mind.

Do you have a cite for this?

Here you go.

That sounded like Frank Oz (for Ms. Piggy)-wasn’t he going to retire?

He needed to do this. Really, truly needed to do it. Fox pwnage is not something you leave to the apprentices. They are apprentices, and do not deserve any fun.

It probably was the same guy who voiced her in the recent Muppet movie. I was shocked when I found out it wasn’t Frank Oz. Kermit’s easy to spot, but that probably has something to do with the fact you know it can’t be Jim Henson.

I asked for a cite for the quote where Fox used the phrase, “communist stooges promoting a socialist ideology”.

Do you have one?

You know, at this point, Steve Whitmire’s been doing Kermit almost as long as Jim Henson did. (22 years vs. 30 years) I don’t even notice his voice as “new” anymore.

You do realize in the OP I did not quote anybody at FOX.

Has it been that long? I can still remember sitting in a parking lot, mourning Henson’s death, and looking at sunspots that, because of clouds, were visible without blinding me.

Eric Jacobson has been playing Piggy, and several of Oz’s other characters, for over a decade (he started with Bert in 1997, Grover in 1998, started Piggy, Fozzie, Animal, and Sam the Eagle in 2001). He even did Yoda (in Muppet form) once. And he’s been with the Muppet studios since 1994. He’s well past the apprenticeship stage, and is not just the heir apparent for Oz’s characters, he’s already taken the throne as his successor.

I see. In other words, you just made something up.

It’s called humorous paraphrasing. In other words, a joke. Notice the lack of quotation marks? That’s a clue.

Like I said, an apprentice. Or maybe a journeyman by now.

I want to know how one goes from what the person on FOX actually said to “communist stooges promoting a socialist ideology”
