Miss Ukraine appears at 2023 Miss Universe in an angelic warrior costume

This brings a tear to my eyes whenever I read or watch it: https://www.google.com/search?q=miss+ukraine&oq=miss&aqs=chrome.0.69i59j69i57j69i60j69i61j69i60.1708j0j4&sourceid=chrome&ie=UTF-8

Miss Ukraine, Viktoriia Apanasenko traveled to New Orleans to appear in the 2023 Miss Universe competition.

During the costume portion of this year’s Miss Universe pageant, Miss Ukraine aimed to make a statement.

Standing out from the typical feathered and sequined bodysuits and headdresses, Viktoriia Apanasenko wielded a sword and dressed in a handmade outfit inspired by the archangel Michael, the guardian of soldiers and the patron of Kyiv, the capital of Ukraine.

“Michael fights with evil and he wins.” Apanasenko told Insider.

With her costume, Apanasenko wanted to bring the world’s attention to the war in Ukraine while representing her country. “I wanted to translate my personality in this costume. I want to translate the strong power that is inside people.”

IMHO, all instigators of war are senseless egotists and stand behind those defending against the invaders.

And while I believe beauty pageants are pointless, Apanasenko’s costume and statements are truly beautiful, powerful and will be remembered as one of the few good things to come out of this conflict once it’s over!

I highly recommend muting the canned, insipid narration.

Dig the wings.

Beautiful.

Dig the Master Sword.

Apparently, Hyrule is Ukraine?

They should really merchandise that look for raise money for Ukraine.

Hopefully, that’s not the new design for Ukrainian drones.

Seconded. I did not expect them to be extendable.

Minor quibble- the super thick boot soles is not something a warrior would wear to do battle.

Well, there is a lot of ass-kicking to do. This may have been a prudent choice.

Not a problem, she’s going to fly over them as swing that sword! SWOOSH!

At least it’s not stiletto high heels.

Correction: it is high heels, not quite stiletto but close enough.

It probably matters less if you intend to fight on the wing.

So how do the wings work? Are there servos in them to extend them, or does she or a handler have to extend them manually?

And I’m betting that the next time I log in to City of Heroes, I’ll see a version or two of that costume.

That outfit is actually kind of terrifying.

There are a lot of amazing costumes in that lot, although kudos to Miss Netherlands for going a completely different direction to everyone else.

ETA: I won’t make you scroll - she’s a giant stroopwaffel:

My understanding is that it is indeed motor-powered. The wings for the performance (but not the photo shoot) were created by a company that includes motors in their wings:

But much more useful to " tread the jeweled thrones of the Earth under his (her) sandaled (Boot shod) feet.

And “To crush her enemies, see them driven before her, and to hear the lamentation of their women.”

Probably should be “Lamentation of their boy toys”.

What?
