From MC’s past weird-ass behavior, I really do think she thinks she can stroll back into her job and play “Miss Contrite, USA” for about five minutes, and then all will be just hunky-dory.

It’s true, if you can accept my obviously unbiased opinion. Except, oh yeah, auntie em is BETTAH than Halle because my fiancé has long hair.
I can’t say much about the burger comparison, but since em makes a wonderful curry shrimp, I don’t care what kind of cooking (stop it!) Halle can do. (Of course, to be fair, I’m pretty sure I’ve never looked at Halle and thought, “Wow, Baby! You look like you can whip up a mean mussel stew with pineau des charentes!”)
Looks thrown Halle’s way are normally instilled with thoughts of a different kind of cooking all together.
Hi all, I just discovered this thread about (20) hours ago and have been reading it non-stop… thanks to Auntie em for treating us with such a fascinating story!
As for the story, I don’t think MC can neccessarily be regarded as “safe”. Although if she was receiving a wire transfer. then over physical danger is less likely, as someone holding a gun to her head would not be able to make it unnoticed inside a bank or a Western Union or wherever it was. However, it is not entirely impossible that there is a threat of force being used (by trucker guy, boyfriend, brother?), possibly against her, or possibly against someone else. Imagine trucker guy getting upset that she has this husband, and then kidnaps her, telling her that if she escaped, trucker guy would kill hubby?
This part has me confused, as I’m not sure if trucker guy IS her husband.
Anyway, MC could also be threatened by blackmail of some sort, or she could be on the run after witnessing something (too hollywood, i agree) or running away from trucker guy.
Or maybe she is Kaiser Soze.

Too right Rilchiam. Everyone’s just taking it for granted that what she told Friend is true and that she did get married. I definitely think that anything MC says can be safely taken with a large grain of salt!
Also I have to agree with the person who said that the phone call she made for money to be wired could have been made by someone being held to ransom!:eek: (Sorry I can’t remember who said it and no time to look back through posts - need to get this out before it becomes redundant)
BTW I couldn’t believe it when I arrived into work this morning - loads of new posts, then a new THREAD with NEWS and 3 pages!!! - Godd*mn time zone differences!

Well, keep in mind, guys, that auntie em has about as much information as she’s probably going to get for now. Unless her missing co-worker actually comes back in to the office, surfaces as a homocide statistic, or another friend/acquaintance of hers pops up with either new anecdotal of verfiable information about MC’s whereabouts, the updates will be pretty much slim to none.
Keep in mind that, if it is a case of possible foul play, these investigations can take a long while with no new information coming along for great lengths of time.
Also, if the evidence leads the police to believe MC is off galavanting around the world on her own volition, they’ll probably just push the disappearance to the side and work on more important matters; after all, MC is a grown (if not nutty) adult who doesn’t, realistically, have to report in to anyone. Co-workers and family members’ concerns aside, obviously.
Which isn’t to say that em won’t be back in this thread after this weekend to fill you in on, well, anything that may have happened, but unless MC shows back up, auntie em will have nothing to give you.
You’ll find yourself starving again. 
(Especially since auntie em doesn’t have internet access on the weekend.) I know, I know: I’m a downer. But someone’s got to play “Bad Cop” in this thing. And auntie em’s too cute for that role.
