If it means that she’s gonna show up with a trucker hubby in tow, then it also means that I’m going to demand the ring back.
I’m worried for Auntie Em. I mean, what if MC and Trucker dude got wind of the thread here? What if they yanked her into a dark alley, bound and gagged her, and are in the process of transporting her (and other unsuspecting dopers) across state lines to be “dealt with.”?
What if Trucker dude is one of those woman-duping guys who gets rich and runs with the cash, leaving women heartbroken and destitute in the Nevada desert?
What if the POD PEOPLE have taken over MC’s body and she’s really a body-double?

Actually the jury is still out on that one because of all the conflicting MC info:
MC goes for a few days of “medical tests” and then is “missing”, gone a total of two weeks in April. MC is presently missing again. Trucker is a guy she met on the internet two years ago, and supposedly dumped. Here is what she has said about her marital status thus far:

Tells Friend “I got married!!!” during the April vanishing.

Meanwhile, tells Auntie Em: “Oh, why can’t I get a boyfriend?

So, while we all assume that it’s Trucker she married (volatile relationship that would be), in truth, who the hell knows???
Ok, hold the phone, I still have an unanswered question from way back on page two, or whatever page it was. Of course, I’ll have to wait until Monday to even have a hope of this issue being addressed by Auntie Em.
Why did Boss change the locks on the office doors a mere twenty-four hours after MC failed to show up for work? She had had a long history of ditching her shift. In fact, she once failed to show for two weeks (you know, when she was getting married, having the operation, etc.). Why all the sudden was Boss nervous and suspicious?
I still feel that Boss knows more than he is telling!
Anyway, here’s my prediction…MC will come waltzing in on Monday morning like there is nothing wrong, she will cry when confronted about her flaky behavior, Boss will cave, and she will have her old job back.

Spooky read about the Evil Personnel File on page… er,… 4ish of the Part I thread. Her termination was a long time coming and not just for this diappearance. This was the one that just got Boss saying to himself “Okay, that’s it! We’d tried to be good about this, but she lied about going to the conference, she keeps flaking off… Obviously this is just going to keep on happening. No more!”
He accepted her B.S. excuses in April (presumably with a “don’t let it happen again” warning), so now it’s time to lock her out.
also, by the time they found out she was missing on friday, they then realized she was in fact missing for an entire week. So while he did have the locked changed within 24 hours of discovering MC AWOL, she was in fact AWOL for 7 days.
I’m sorry - but I think that you are all missing the obvious:
MC is actually stalking the Creepy Trucker! - all this other stuff is just a smoke screen to cover this up!
Does anybody know if MC maxed out the company credit card before Auntie Em’s boss cancelled it?

I’ve never worked in an office environment. Is this really representative of the nonsense that goes down??? No wonder they are a non-profit organization!

I can’t help but be amused that this story is so long and so complicated that we are asking the same questions twice and three times. auntie em, you have completely taking over our lives for nearly a week.
Damn, but I’m jealous. 
It’s the first Straight Dope wedding for us, at any rate. 
No, I think you misunderstand, actually. The boss didn’t change the locks because he was wanting to lock her out, he changed them for fear of someone else (possibly her abductor if that’s what happened; maybe a complete stranger if she lost her purse with the keys inside) finding the keys, gaining access to the building and stealing valuable equipment or causing a security problem.
Keep in mind that the only retribution (if you want to call it that) he had in mind for the MC was termination–and that was a decision which only happened days after he changed the locks. The boss is normally a pretty easygoing fellow, which helps explains her continual employment over the past few odd years. The only breaking point he reached was when he decided to fire her.
When the card was cancelled, no, it wasn’t maxed out; however, the office is still waiting for any charges that have yet to show up.
Or something will be spawned…
Maybe she sold her purse to a one-eyed Texican for a couple of hits of E.
I think that, when she’s found, Missing Coworker needs to register and post to this thread.
Missing coworker seems to be to be the type that would not be capable of understanding and completing the registration process.

That is the funniest thing I ever read. ( today) Here I am checking to see if there is anymore news, and I find myself laughing. Shame on you Cervaise,for making me laugh so hard I woke my toddler up from her nap. 
She’ll show up by next payday. Not showing up for Friday’s check means nothing as, like probably 99% of the working public, she probably has direct deposit (correct me, auntie em, if you know this to be incorrect). But by next payday, when she’s expecting another deposit, she will come running back home to find out why it’s not there.
