Missing Win98 desktop toolbars

A quick question for techies: I had a “Favourites” toolbar set up on my main Win98 toolbar (similar to “Quick Launch”). The folder I used to keep all of the shortcuts in is still there; however, they no longer appears on the main toolbar. When I right-click on the main toolbar and select Toolbars, all of the options are greyed-out.

How do I get the option to show toolbars back?

Use Explore (Window key-E) to look at the file structure.
Go to \windows\favorites
add a folder inside that called links
then you can move individual bookmarks in from other files With the Favorites/organize favorites option of the Internet Explorer bar.

Thanks Pink. I discovered what the problem was in the end. I had Active Desktop enabled, but for some inexplicable reason the toolbars still wouldn’t show until I activated IE4. I don’t even use IE4 (I have IE5 installed), but…

Also, if you didn’t already know, any folder can be made into a toolbar simply by dragging said folder over the upper left corner of the desktop (off the screen). It will become a toolbar that you can put on the taskbar. That’s probably the fastest way to get it back if you lose it again.
