Nothin’ for me, but my brother has $55 coming to him. He’ll be happy to know that.
My maternal grandmother has over $100 sitting in there; I notified her and my mom so they’ll get on that. My paternal grandparents have a minimum $600 in there! (I verified it with the relevant state treasury.) I don’t know if I can legally get my hands on it or if I have to bite the bullet and tell my aunt.
If your aunt is the next-of-kin, I would let her know. I’m trying to decide whether I’m going to let my ex know… or let the state of Kentucky know where he is. He could probably use the money to get commissary or to help pay back restitution.
Hmmm…
The address listed is the apartment I moved into after my wife and I sold our place and separated. Perhaps someone goofed and accidentally took out an extra 10 grand in fees that’s just waiting for me to claim it.
Please?
Looks like my wife and I have ~$120 coming to us that we’d lost track of.
Nothing…not a stinkin dime, not me, my husband, my daughter, my mother, my in-laws…nothing.
My ex-FIL has at least $300 listed. I passed it on to him. Aren’t I sweet? I didn’t have anything for me.
Looks like there might be money for my parents, and for my brother-in-law’s father. Yeah for free money (or lost money)!!
I got about $80 that way a few years ago, from an old employer. It was pretty fun to see my name come up, it feels like winning something even though the money always belonged to me.
Update on Grandma’s money: My mother, being the executor, took over the job and found that the exact amount was a shade over $3200. I get $500 as a finder’s fee. Yay!
Woo! Something for me from State Farm … with my luck it’ll be $2.67. I won’t know til I get the form in the mail.
Off to plug in everyone’s name I can think of!
Officially slack-jawed now. Two more hits.
Wow. I’m too lazy to do so but someone should add up all the amounts that Rysdad has helped us all accumulate.
I posted the link on an email list and several folks there got hits as well. Nothing over a hundred or so bucks, but nothing to sneeze at either.
Oh, and for shits ‘n’ giggles I did a search on my maiden name.
Got a hit for my state, my town.
My state does not appear to disclose address, reported by or amount for anyone (they didn’t for Typo Knig’s money, they don’t for his cousin’s money) so I have no idea who or what. I suspect very little, as I was not using my maiden name for much of anything by the time we moved here.
Off to see if I can find a copy of the one recent document that lists anything like my full name (Firstname, Maiden MI, Maiden Last, Married Last). I may have my original social security card and I know I have a birth certificate somewhere… I’ll let everyone know if it pans out to anything. Maybe it’ll pay for the toner for copying the records!
I’ve found a few totalling up to 300+ in my fathers name. he is deceased. How could I claim the money? Death certificate? I am his only heir.
My wife has recovered some money from an old insurance policy and some other cash from an old account. Not very much, but it’s a good site to check.
Contact the treasury department of the state it’s in. They should be able to steer you right.
Nothing for me, but my mom came up. Too bad her sister lives in New York state, which it doesn’t cover. And my half-brother got some too-big guess what* he’ll *spend it on .
My brother told me about this earlier this year and I got $56. Something to do with insurance from years ago.
For those who are finding their state isn’t covered - it looks like they give you a link to your state’s page (saw that when I looked up a friend’s name for New York… which now that you mention it, I sort-of lived in New York at one point, I should check there!)
