How many times have you heard the talking heads on TV squawk “What’s the Democrats’ plan for Iraq?” Well dad gum it, they aren’t running the show! They expect the party not commanding the military to come up with a plan while the bozo who started the whole fiasco waits until two months after the election, two elections after invading, to come up with his plan to get out.
The rumors are that the new plan is going to involve significantly increasing the troop levels. He also plans to launch balloons made of lead.
I know! It’s like, I just drove your car into the river. What’s your plan for getting it out?

I’ve always opposed the war and never liked Bush, but this past week has truly been a nadir for the United States. I do not believe the USA has been so poorly led in my lifetime. Bush is a far worse President than Nixon - they’re not even close.
Getting into a stupid and immoral war is one thing, but this past few weeks has just been the most appalling thing I’ve ever seen. It’s now virtually a comnmonly accepted fact that the war is hopelessly lost, and Bush’s response is to pretend - openly, now, in public - that it’s not, and that sending more kids to die there is a great idea.
Funny how the war supporters on the SDMB are so quiet these days.
Disgusting isn’t it? He’s going to send even more soldiers over there to try and get his foot out of this monumental pile of steaming shit he’s stepped in, but he has no idea how to do it or how to even begin to fix what he’s irrevocably broken. As a reported recently said - “even the Iraqis are now saying that things were far better under Saddam, and who are we to tell them they’re wrong?”
Bush is by far the most evil, odious, dangerously deluded, self-satisfied, paralyticaly moronic fucking piece-of-shit excuse for a president this country has ever seen.
The other shoe hasn’t dropped.
When we have no coral reefs, and the ocean is a chemical cesspit containing only inedible species, but has risen to the Blue Ridge Parkway due to global warming, and all the large mammals and 90% of thebirds are extinct, we’ll come to see this temporary war, that only killed people, our one inexhaustible resource, as one of the less damaging things this administration has done.
It’s positively a distraction from even greater destruction.

As a lifelong Democrat and liberal hippie, I guess I’ll step up to the plate and defend President Cuckoo Banana Nuts. I have high hopes that with Rummy out of the way, this new plan will bear fruit. I have high hopes that Bush will pull off an eleventh hour miracle and make the world right. I hope that when he leaves office, it’s on a high note and his approval rating is close to 100% worldwide.
I also have high hopes that Portia DiRossi will dress up in a cute little Santa suit and slip down my nonexistant chimney on Christmas Eve, slip into my bed, and give me a nice sloppy Christmas hummer. And a million bucks.

I am afraid this is obvious. Dumbest President ever.
Never was, just the worst human to be president. Jimmy Carter was a worse President. Carter was the nicest human to be president in our lifetimes and it did not help. Nixon was not a terrible president; he was just a nasty, twisted pit bull of a man. A terrible thing that I hope we never repeat, but what is frightening is that he was an okay to good president and the truly nice Jimmy Carter was terrible.
I really have to agree, the draft dodger is still unfit to lead our nation and he was 2000.
It is not even close. Nixon helped the environment, got us out of a war started long before him, and began to normalize relations with China among other accomplishments.
Bush has pulled the teeth on many on our environmental protections, tried to drill in a wildlife preserve for little true gain and dishonored our reputation around the world with an ill-conceived, illegal private war. His VP is more crooked and morally depraved than even Nixon. He has probably caused another militant Islamic state to come into being that will increase the amount of violence and terrorism in the world.

I think the way that Carter handled the Iranian hostage crisis, getting them all back without losing a single life, showed much more competence in foreign affairs than had he gone in with guns blazing like Bush may have done in the same situation.
Not to mention that Carter didn’t do a whole lot of harm while in office. The same can’t be said of the current President.
My theory is that the 18% that still support him are of the ignorant opinion that any dead Iraqi/Arab/Muslim either innocent or guilty is better than a live one. They would prefer we just kill everyone over there.
Those are the current Bush fans.
