Mitt Romney: "It kills me" to not be in the White House

In a sick sort of way, I kind of wish “it” would make good on his claim and finish him off once and for all. Then at least we would not have to hear about his miseries, out of which he would be put.

It still seems like he was totally surprised that he lost that thing.

Wait, wasn’t there some news right after the election that Romney’s son said Mittens never wanted to run in the first place?

He really didn’t want to run. He wanted to be made President. Different things.

Yeah, he had something more like a coronation in mind.

Well Mitt, you don’t win elections by writing off 47% of the electorate and then expecting that you will automatically get 100% of the remainder. Believe it or not, the world is filled with real, actual human beings. Not just numbers on paper or marketing figures.

The funny thing about that quote is that Mitt ended up with 47.2% of the vote. So, he was right about one candidate having secured a 47% minimum, at least. Too bad he got the names switched.

Did you spend years of your life valiantly pretending to be something you were not (human, in Willard’s case) in order to curry favor with the unwashed masses to attain the worst job in the world?

It actually makes sense that there would be no sequester if Mitt had won. The GOP would have been able to leverage their budgetary priorities, the Dems would have compromised, and it would not have been a big deal.

The reason we have the sequester is the GOP has a large rump of supporters who are nihilistic and willing to hold the country hostage if they don’t get their way.

The sequester is the price we are paying for saving the country from GOP rule. Totally worth it.

Well, I kind of think that I’d like my wife to feel that way about me…

He wasn’t evil, but he was callous. The only times he came across as authentic was when he was deriding the poor or working class as lazy, easy to bribe, victims, etc. He viewed an effort to reform our failed healthcare system as a method of bribing the poor. Food stamps to prevent malnutrition are considered a bribe. etc.

I don’t know of many national republicans who are truly evil. Callous, stupid, crazy, ignorant, rabidly ideological, etc. sure. But not necessarily evil.

Cheney was sincerely evil – he bombed a nation to goose his portfolio – but pretty much all the others are just stupid (Dubya), crazy (Bachmann), or just small time grift (Palin).

Never ascribe to animus what can be explained by incompetence.

I saw an article about this on Yahoo news, originally from National Journal, with this cute headline:

Mitt Romney Isn’t Done Proving Why He’s Not President

Being born into a wealthy family, graduating from a bunch of Ivy League schools and then becoming a management consultant and venture capitalist?
Don’t get me wrong. I’m sure Romney is a smart guy and worked hard in his career. But let’s not make him out to be Henry Ford. He made most of his money in fields that are pretty much wealth creation machines for people who have been groomed since birth to enter them. Or do you think Bain only hires Ivy League graduates because those are the only schools that graduate extremely smart people?

Do we know that? I assumed he would amend his return after the election, but I never heard anything official.

They whined about how the media didn’t let us get to know the real Mitt Romney. So why did he not allow himself to be interviewed during the campaign? Mr. Obama certainly didn’t shy away from interviews, but Romney was virtually unavailable for questioning from nomination to election.

Why wait until the election? He probably submitted an amended return even before he released the original. How would we ever know?

New rumor is that Mitt is the secret unnamed appointee to be Detroit’s emergency manager. Bit of a step down in prestige ;). But I gotta admit it makes some sense. He does have familiarity with Detroit from the Governor Daddy days, as well as failing business management experience, and not many people that Snyder is thinking of have both. I guess it would be an opportunity to finally prove his Bona Fides in business and saving America from itself. But is he really that much of a masochist? Man what a thankless job for the man who would be Supreme Executive.

Agree. Under Romney, with a GOP-led house and filibuster-crazy Senate, we would have a permanent state of worse-than-sequester cuts.

As a PR-move, it would be easy for Romney to release his current tax returns to show that he has kept his word to over-pay his 2012 taxes. He chooses not to, so we choose to think he amended those returns. Costs him nothing, of course, other than tax money.
