Geez, I had no idea we were thisclose to electing such an arrogant, elitist, asshole, evil, unfeeling motherfucking jerk! How could I have not seen that spiteful, vindictive side of him?! He really is the CEO from hell. Wow.

Oh, the signs were certainly there. He tried to hide it, but his true self showed up in multiple ways. Each taken on their own were a bit of comedy fodder, but too few people took each episode together to realize that Romney lacks (and possibly is incapable of) empathy.

(1) His dog. Seriously, who straps their dog to the top of their car for a long road trip? Any person with a drop of empathy would realize that would not be comfortable.

(2) His bullying. Mostly dropped because he was young at the time, but taken with other episodes it is still valid data.

(3) The covert video. His 47% comment should have sealed the deal (and pretty much did save for Obama sleeping through debate 1). Writing off half the country simply because you don’t think they will ever vote for you shows his lack of empathy and severe self-centeredness.

Simply put, his monkey sphere is way too small to be president.

I would tend to agree that this latest bit only goes to show that the man IS completely out of touch with the lives of ordinary people and go on to say that I believe that we as a nation dodged a bullet by not electing him.

Romney had a few gifts in mind for his base too, such as those trillions of dollars in tax cuts. In fact, Romney’s gifts make Obama look like Scrooge. Face it, Mitt’s campaign sucked ass. He had exactly one good night between April and November- the first debate. He thought all he had to do was say “I am not Obama” and start measuring the drapes in the White House. Now he’s just a bitter little loser, just like Grandpa Simpson McCain.

And Romney still insists he ran a good campaign, as if setting yourself up as the enemy of more than half the voters was good strategy.:smack: The Republican Party is so wrapped up in its own lies that it can’t see reality anymore.

There’s still some hope for the party, though.

Asked about Romney’s remarks, Louisiana Gov. Bobby Jindal, a potential contender for the Republican nomination in 2016, strongly condemned those in the party who classify voters based on income, race or age and said the party cannot concede wide swaths of voters and expect to win elections.

I’m white, middle-aged, middle-class, employed, insured and a damn fine consumer. And Republicans like to consider me a deadbeat.

Quite a few folks like me voted for Obama too.

amen! Obama didn’t get ONLY elected due to the minority vote. Us whitey’s played our part. I’m a huge Obama fan and if the gets the tax hike he wants I will be paying more each year.. but all worth it if we can get this countries econmy back on track.

The Lessons of Defeat for the GOP
Everything from the ground game to the date of the next convention needs to be re-examined.

Tactically, Republicans must rigorously re-examine their “72-hour” ground game and reverse-engineer the Democratic get-out-the-vote effort in order to copy what works. For example, a postelection survey shows that the Democratic campaign ground game was more effective in communicating negative information. It would be good to know why—and how to counter such tactics in the future.

I worked on a Democratic GOtV and we never said anything negative about Republican candidates. Not a single word. Maybe outside my area there was negative information, but we asked people if they were OK after the storm, asked them if they intended to vote (and urged them to vote), and asked them if they needed help getting to the polls or contacting agencies for help with downed trees, etc.

Another idea: Holding the convention in late August made sense when candidates relied on public financing for the general election. That will never happen again. The Romney campaign had tens of millions it couldn’t spend for months until he was officially nominated on Aug. 28. Future conventions should be held as early as late June.

Oh goody. More ads.

Then there are the conservative Super PACs, such as American Crossroads, a group I helped organize. Obama administration officials, liberal pundits and Democratic apparatchiks this past week have launched a coordinated attack designed to weaken support for conservative Super PACs. Democrats saw how these groups created more GOP victories than expected in 2010 and strongly countered Team Obama’s attempt to strangle the Republican ticket this summer by spending 20% of the president’s campaign budget on a TV blitz attacking Mr. Romney.

Just as they did after the successful 2010 election, groups such as Crossroads will carefully review their activities to determine what was effective and what wasn’t. But Democratic attacks aren’t weakening the commitment of conservative Super PAC benefactors. They’re in it for the long haul and don’t take direction from the left. Their attitude is: The fight goes on, beat 'em next time.

Of course Rove rakes off a portion of his Super Pac’s proceeds, so the more donations, the better his income.

Interesting that Rove was upset about 20% of spending by Obama being negative ads. His Super Pacs probably spent 90% of their ad buys on negative ads.

The bit about Ryan’s statement that I can’t understand, is why is it considered newsworthy? Anyone who’s paid any attention at all to politics in the past few decades knows that cities overwhelmingly tend Democratic while rural areas tend Republican, and that a big part of any politician winning is in getting good turnout from their base. So to the statement that Obama won, in large part, because he got high turnout in urban areas, I say “Duh”.

Because the left is too classy to state the obvious? “Well, of course Romney got the (white, Old Testament, war loving, sex fearing, gun toting, oppressive) rural vote.”

I don’t know whether to laugh or merely stare in slack-jawed amazement at Rove’s attempt to deflect blame away from the obvious reason (he pissed away eight-figure sums of money and got bupkis to show for it) his SuperPAC is likely to experience “weakened” support.
