The message that I’m getting from this is
“We lost the election because the majority of Americans suck”
Why do you hate America Mr Romney?

The funny thing about it is that Romney essentially says “Obama won because more voters thought they would benefit and thrive under his policies” (which is pretty much how-to-win-an-election-in-one-statement), and then says “I ran a great campaign”.
Good luck to the Republicans in blaming the voters for votings for who they thought they would benefit under most!
Yeah, it’s bizarre.
A whole bunch of people voted based on rational self-interest! Shocking! The collapse of the Republic is imminent!
Well, see, it’s bad because they only voted for him because he gave them stuff. Although that wasn’t a crime against democracy when Romney gave health care to his constituents in Massachusetts. His poorly-received NAACP visit looks a little different in hindsight, doesn’t it?
I cannot stop laughing about this. Thanks for brightening my day!
(yes, I know I’m a page or two late, but c’mon – this thread was only started yesterday!)
I’m in the same boat as you. White male, 42, married (to a female), one kid, household income >$150K.
They tell me I voted for Obama out of ‘white guilt’.
White Guilt my ass. I’m a 50 year old white guy and I voted for Obamacare (Diabetes is a helluva pre-existing condition) and against Mr. Big Tax Cuts For Me (and screw you proles).
Well, I’m sure that Romney giving you shit for voting for his opponent, and telling you that you only voted for him to get "free stuff’ is really going to convince you to vote Republican next time.
Right?
I mean, that was a mature, convincing policy argument about why his ideas were superior coming from Mr. Romney. Bound to sway a lot of voters back.
Not quite: it’s prescient artificial social selection, derived from the eternal wisdom of our sage superiors. You know, Malthus and Eysenck would approve. Nothing eugenicsy like Sanger, Stopes, Pearson, Beveridge or Mitchison advocated though.
He’s not trying to persuade voters anymore. He’s making excuses to donors. To put it another way, he’s not pretending to be relevant. It’s too bad that he comes off as such a dick, but in itself that’s not really a surprise. Compare Romney’s back-of-a-napkin concession speech and this stuff to John McCain’s and the result is pretty startling.
Look, if you feel like the government should supply healthcare I suggest you just move, buddy…to someplace like Massachusetts.
These types of statements from the Republicans help create an energized base–a base of people who will actively vote against the Republicans. At this point, I can’t see voting for any Republican even if I think he’s the best guy for the job. Even if he’s not drinking the tea, I don’t want the derp-brigade to gain any ground.
So… unless I’m missing something, the coordinated attacks from Democratic apparatchiks is basically everyone pointing out how utterly useless and ineffective Rove and his SuperPAC was.
I’m not surprised that Rove is trying to spin things around so that people still give him lots of their money. Sadly, I won’t really be surprised if the Republicans still do so.
Only the elite are supposed to vote for what will benefit them most - the unwashed masses are supposed to vote for whom they are told to vote by [del]their masters[/del] the elite.
Or even Indiana… which has a program of subsidized health insurance that has kept me and mine healthy for the past four years… despite being a Red state with a Republican governor.
(If anyone’s curious - my share is 5% of my monthly income. My spouse and I actually have separate policies, so if I acquire a job that covers me and not him he still has coverage at that same price. It’s not deluxe, but it covers pre-existing conditions, has a special program to help keep his diabetes under control, and we no longer have to worry about bankruptcy if I break a leg.)
As I said (I think it was even in this thread);
After his latest comments I really believe that America dodged a bullet with his failure to get elected.
The fact that he “blames” people for not voting for him just shows the arrogance and entitlement of the current Republican party and it’s followers.
I’ve only read this far in the thread, but I’ve been saying this for years.
The Right are penny wise and pound foolish. They seek to cut pennies from ‘entitlements’ with no regard to the multifold return on investing in them.
I’m white, over 55, and the only thing I’d like to give Romney is a punch in his smug snoot.
And we see that when he recanted his 47% comment and said he was for all the people he was lying. Again. That bartender deserves a Medal of Freedom.
About two months before the election there was an article in some on-line business mag decrying how Insurance was getting twisted and co-opted by all these entitlement demands. How paying for preventative care and exams had nothing to with with the real purpose of insurance, which was to pay for disasters, and it would be a lot cheaper for all of us if we went back to that model instead of paying for all of this stuff people should be paying for themselves.
Same thinking. Penny wise, pound foolish. Completely failing to understand that preventative maintenance reduces illnesses and major payouts and is ultimately cheaper in the long run.
