MLB: 2022 Postseason

It will be interesting to see what the Yankees do. Carpenter proved himself but was on the IL for an extended period of time. Stanton was hitting better earlier in the year when he played in the field. He hasn’t played in the field since he was injured after the allstar game. The rookie Cabrera earned a spot on the roster. Hicks is still a disaster.

Bader will be in center. Judge will be in right. Who do they put in left? Who will DH? I suspect Carpenter will only DH or pinch hit. There may be a riot if Hicks is named the starter.

Yeah and that kid from Tom’s River is still on the IL until the ALDS. There are definitely some problems in the bullpen.

This round I’m rooting for 3/4 of the visiting teams. It’s going to be an uphill battle, for sure. I would have preferred the Padres not to encounter the Dodgers until the NLCS, but needs must. As long as Atlanta, New York and that team from Texas lose, I’m happy.

In what sport? Certainly not basketball, the bracket that NCAA is most known for.

That’s not true in any NCAA sport of which I’m aware.

I don’t see where Hicks plays. He certainly isn’t the fielder that Bader is nor is he as productive as Cabrera. With Judge in right, Bader in center, and Cabrera in left with Stanton DHing other than pinch hitting I don’t see what good having him on the roster does. Will Carpenter play? Hard to see after such a long absence how his timing will be there.

I don’t care who’s on there as long as they beat Cleveland!!

Hicks is a solid defensive outfielder that could be used as a pinch runner. Also as a switch hitter, he is a little more useful off the bench than other choices.

He can strike out from both sides of the plate.

True, but hey, good chance if the Yanks advance, he’ll get injured on the way.

What do you like about it? (Serious question, not snark)

Well the answer is here for game 1 anyway. Cabrera, Bader Judge in the outfield. Stanton DH. Carpenter on the bench as a late at bat.

So are the Phillies the dark horse to take it all or is their curbstomping of the Braves a one-off??

As of today the Phillies are #5 out of 8. Cleveland has the longest odds.

Currently on Fanduel, odds to win the World Series:

Dodgers +260
Astros +340
Yankees +490
Braves +650
Phillies +750
Padres +1100
Mariners +1100
Guardians +1600

The Astros overcome a 4-0 Mariners lead, and walk off Seattle with a three-run blast by Yordan Alvarez into the second deck with two outs in the bottom of the 9th. What a game.

Aw, nuts.

Exactly.

You could tell that dude was gonna knock it out of the park when he walked to the plate and they showed his stats onscreen. They shoulda walked him.

They shouldn’t have put Robbie Ray out there. :rage:

But yes, they only needed one out. Let him walk and then get the next guy out. They were still up 2 runs at that point.
