Gives me hope, but the way these games have played out don’t make any sense to me anyway.
So tonight, at 7pm EDT, Schlittler goes for the Yanks and Varland starts for the Jays. His only other start this season he went 2 scoreless innings. So it will be a bullpen game.
Schlittler has been great in his small sample and pitched a masterpiece last time out against the Red Sox in a winner take all game. So in theory pressure shouldn’t be an issue. We’ve had 3 starters in a row really fail and fail hard, I hope Schlittler the one that can avoid this.
I hate to be a debbie-downer but Schlittler didn’t get out of the second inning against Blue Jays last month. And even if the Yanks take game 4, I’ve already seen Max Fried pitch in Toronto this postseason and it wasn’t pretty. The odds are long.
What’s the deal with Eric Lauer? He made 15 starts this season. Is he considered ‘not stretched out’ anymore or did he fall out of favor for some other reason?
Depends on how you define waste. Trout has been in the playoffs 1 time and only in 3 games. Judge has been in 64 post season games. The Angels with Trout suck and have rarely been a factor in any playoff race. The Yankees have been in the thick of things almost every year Judge has been in the league. If you only think World Series victories are success then they have wasted him. He’s certainly been much more successful than Trout.
I wish I could argue any of that, but hopefully the Yanks take game 4 and we can see what happens Friday in Toronto. Fried has been bad at Toronto, with the Yanks losing all 3 counting game 1.
Schlittler has faced them twice and was terrible September 5th but solid July 22nd going 5 innings and giving up only 2 runs. Of course his last 2 games were masterpieces, his best major league games. You have to like his chances against the Jays’ bullpen.
There have 2 starters out of 6 in this starter who have gotten an out in the 4th. Not sure that it is a big deal not to have a starter. Jays just think their pen is better than the back of their rotation.
Unclear so if Cal autographed the shirt. But the guy bought a Cricut machine and made the two shirts himself for the final regular season game, then flew out to Detroit for another shot.
He may be wearing the second shirt for today’s game.
I’ve only read about it. It’s no secret that the anthem has been booed in many venues in Canada this year. They are really booing Trump, so it’s fine by me.
A lot of Yankees fans are assholes. Show me a franchise without asshole fans and I’ll show you, uh, Minnesota.
I love when the Jays come to Seattle because their fan base is really nice. I used to work within walking distance of T-Mobile Park and would see a flood of Jays gear if the team was visiting, and they were delightful people.
Nice to hear. I’ve been to a game there once and it was a nice experience.

My wife is still mad at Toronto fans when, years ago in a postseason game, pretty sure it was against the Texas Rangers, the fans got pretty ugly. I remember lots of litter and items thrown onto the field. It may have been hazardous to the players too, but I’m not certain about that. I do remember it was pretty ugly.
Canadians can be very kind and cordial, but in that stadium, at that game, things got pretty ugly. I want to say it was about 10-15 years ago.

And then of course, especially since I created the Color Guard at the reserve unit I was with, I am still embarrassed by the USMC Color Guard that flew the Canadian flag upside down. Morons. Was that the World Series against the Braves?
