And a leadoff homer by Eric Young Sr. for the home team.
Clayton Kershaw is throwing a three-hit shutout through eight innings, and in the bottom of the eighth he hit a home run to put the Dodgers up 1-0. LA still leads 1-0 with runners on first and third.
I didn’t know that about two years at Mile High but ya they are running hard on the 20th thing.
On a side note how about Clayton hitting a homerun for the Dodger’s first run of the season and probable game winner!
ETA: since we’re doing Rockies trivia Bren Smith was their first pitcher and he won. Was my high school baseball coach.
Nothing to add here other than that I am very pleased to have been in the stands for Kershaw’s performance yesterday (with a hat-tip to Cain, who pitched very well outside of the first inning). The stadium improvements are nice (although it hardly feels like you can call it Dodger Stadium anymore without the pee troughs), the new video screens are friggen’ amazing, and oh, the game on the field was pretty entertaining, too. About the only thing I don’t like is the Dodgers’ stupid slogan for this year, “A Whole New Blue.” Not as bad as the Cubs’ “Committed,” but still.
Anyway, I’m looking forward to going back to see Greinke’s first start as a Dodger on Friday.
I keep reading that they are minutes away from signing a 8/$200million contract with him, but that has been “minutes away” from being completed since March 30th.
Kershaw has passed Kemp as my favorite player in baseball though. The kid is insane.
It is not April Fools Day, I just read about Robinson Cano firing Scott Boras and hiring Jay-z as his agent ? I had to double check to make sure this wasn’t an Onion story either.
I don’t think anything good can come of having some gangster rapper as an agent.
Easy, there. Whatever your opinion of rap, Jay-Z has made a career of being a good businessman. And he isn’t going to be Cano’s actual agent. It’s just that he owns the agency.
Masterson was solid, as was the defense. Off to a nice start! And did you notice the chatter on the field? They looked like they were actually having fun out there!
