Over the weekend Arizona traded outfielder Randal Grichuk to Kansas City in the middle of a Dbacks-Pittsburgh game
Guardians lost to the Rockies tonight. I honestly think it was due to the Clase news.
Such a heartbreak for us. Also a major hit to the team payroll to have two guys wrapped up and not playing.
Ugh.
Some commentary from Twitter that I thought was funny:
Eugenio Suarez is probably the most talked about trade prospect this year. Yesterday he got hit in the hand with a 96 mph fastball. X-rays were negative but it’s possible this might affect things.
I’m wondering, and kind of assuming that the betting sites are working closely with MLB officials. MLB can’t have real time information on betting patterns unless they are directly working with the bookies.
I was telling my wife that Geno needs to be careful where he puts his hands.
At least they were different hands but still. Less than two weeks apart.
Luis Robert Jr. trade talk insanity continues, with ESPN trying to wish him on the Mets.
Yo Mets, your struggles to get men on base and score runs won’t be solved by getting a player who hit .224 last year and has barely gotten above the Mendoza Line in '25.
Robert had one good full season, but lots of people are mesmerized by his “potential” - to be another Chris Davis.
Maybe I would trade a bag of balls for him. Maybe. Defensively they aren’t great in center so at least he would help there.
It’s happened before but it’s rare. A trade happened in between games of a double header. Seranthony just had to walk to the other clubhouse.
They were talking about this during the Cubs game. Interestingly, the AA affiliates were playing each other, too, and the prospect traded also just had to switch clubhouses.
And he pitched the seventh for Toronto in the nightcap. That must have been a bit surreal for Dominguez.
I wonder if the clubhouse crew was able to sew his name on the back of his new jersey in time for the game.
Definitely a rush job. They sewed the number ‘8’ on upside down.
The Yankees have acquired OF Austin Slater from the White Sox in exchange for minor league pitcher Gage Ziehl.
The Cincinnati Reds are acquiring 3B Ke’Bryan Hayes from the Pittsburgh Pirates in exchange for RP Taylor Rogers and IF prospect Sammy Stafura.
I’m hoping they are setting up for something further. After they filled their 3rd base hole what they really need is pitching. Of course so does everyone else.
The Phillies are acquiring Jhoan Duran from Minnesota in exchange for catcher Eduardo Tait and right-hander Mick Abel, who are ranked Philadelphia’s #4 and #5 prospects, respectively.
My Cubs avoided their first series sweep of the season by beating the Brewers today. That said, we still have a major pitching problem and the moves they made last week haven’t kicked in yet - if they ever will. Could I please get an egotistical billionaire owner for Christmas? We’ll suck some years, but the good years could be GREAT!
Kidding. Or am I? ![]()
The Mets just got swept by the Padres, scoring one run in the final two games.
Better scoop up that .206-hitting outfielder from the White Sox that everyone’s talking about.
Shoring up the bullpen when you can’t score runs may not help too much.
Ask and ye shall receive:
The Mets are acquiring Cardinals closer Ryan Helsley for shortstop Jesus Baez, right-hander Nate Dohm and right-hander Frank Elissalt. Baez is rated as the #5 prospect in the Mets system.
ETA: I misread your post as a call for bullpen help.
