MLB: June 2019

More importantly, Cookie Monster was the featured guest conductor to sing Take Me Out to the Ballgame during the 7th inning stretch. The video you didn’t know you needed in your life: https://twitter.com/NBCSCubs/status/1144348144127422466

And the Mets blew their 5th game in a row late. Full tailspin.

Ready for the London series? BBC Sport isn’t, not a single mention of it as of 1800 GMT.

When I looked at it just now (1709 GMT), there was a link to this article (“Yankees-Red Sox in London: Will the UK take to baseball?”), but it was waaaaay down the page.

Cole Hamels exits the game with an injury in the second inning tonight. Lots of discussion about Mike Montgomery, who had to come in and not being prepared.

I think if you know your role is long relief and spot starter, then you’ve got to be mentally prepared to enter the game at any time. Sure, it’s easier if you’re the long man and you see the starter getting shellacked and you realize you’re likely to be called upon. But injuries happen and you’re playing for a team with World Series visions, this isn’t the Marlins.

Excited for Yanks/Sox on the pitch tomorrow! Guardian has a good article.

Describing making the field as:

It is interesting how other international sports expand, but baseball is a bit… (I’ll go with) confusing to many. I don’t blame them. But the fan base is quite large in the UK. Should be fun. Hope I’m awake!

i dont understand … why do people want the rays to go back to Montreal? from what i saw when la went there they couldn’t give tix away …youd see a few hundred expats here and there they just werent a baseball town

Fans must be confused sitting with opposite fans in London

6-6 at the end of the first inning. They’re getting a good show.

London stadium is a hitters park.

That was a crazy game even by Yankees vs. Redsox standards.

Top of the 1st: Heh, Boston sucks.
Bottom half: Goddamnit.

30 runs, 37 hits, 16 pitchers who threw 422 pitches, in a game that lasted 4 hours and 42 minutes. Fun for the crowd, I guess?

The only one that compares in my mind is one in the 1980s where the Red Sox put up 9 in the top of the first, then the Yankees countered with 11 in the bottom of the first, knocking out Roger Clemens, no less. The Red Sox scored 2 in the top of the 2nd, so it was 11-11 after 1 1/2 innings. It stayed there until New York scored one in the bottom of the 10th to win 12-11.

Crazy hitting today, those foul popups near first were an adventure. Fun day, but tomorrow should be even better without Joe Buck. The Freeze was fun and so was the big head race, but would it have killed Fox to show them live? Or the anthems for that matter?

heres a story on the game : MSN

as long as there was action the length wouldnt bother me its when its 0-0 wiht nothing going after 4 hours are the ones i hate even on tv unless its a no hitter ect

I couldn’t help but notice the billboards on the batting helmets in the London game. Advertising an IT company, I believe.

Glad we don’t have them on this side of the pond. Imagine if the helmets looked like NASCAR race cars. Full of sponsors.

The Orioles today became the first team in MLB history to score 13+ runs and shut out the other team in back to back games. Yes, THOSE Orioles.

And against Cleveland no less.

I’m up watching the second London game, this one looks like it could be crazy as well.

So 50 runs scored in 2 games, what will they think of our sport?

After falling into a 19-31 abyss on May 23 after losing all four games to the Mets, my Nationals have gone 23-10 ever since, and currently sit at third place in the NL East at 41-40. We’re only one game behind the Phillies for second place, 2 back in the Wild Card chase, and 7 1/2 behind the Braves for the lead in the NL East.

Yeah, and if it weren’t for the bullpen, we’d probably be in first place.
