Every game that’s not nationally-televised (be it on a broadcast channel, cable, or another streaming service), and every game that’s not locally blacked-out is available to watch live on MLB.tv.
Every other game is available to watch 40 minutes after its conclusion.
MLB.tv currently has a back catalogue dating back to the beginning of the 2020 season, and sometime earlier this season, they took down 2019, which annoys me as a fan of the 2019 World Series Champion Washington Nationals.
Wait… So if you pay for mlb.tv you do NOT get the games on other streaming services? (I know about the ESPN and local blackouts.) Seems like a tough sell to me.
Some yes, some no. The Amazon ones are for in-market. The mlb.tv ones as far as I know are for out of market. So you get the Amazon games if you’re out of market on mlb.tv
The Apple+ Games are more like a game of the week, so you don’t get those, ESPN games or these dumb ass Peacock Premium games.
MLB.tv is more of a product for people outside of their favorite team’s TV market, or for people who are happy to watch games from all over the league rather than just their team. I don’t really understand the recent trend of slicing the streaming market up, as mentioned above - that’s a nightmare for Yankee fans, and an absurd way to retain a fan base.
Having baseball games available across a bunch of platforms might appeal to the fan who says, “I just want to watch some baseball, on one of the platforms that I already subscribe to.” But, I’m not sue how big of an audience that actually is.
It certainly seems to be hostile to the fan of a particular team, who wants to be able to watch as many of that specific team’s games as possible.
So are there any teams that would take on Gallo or Hicks from the Yankees? Hicks has 3 more seasons at $10m per. Gallo is a free agent after this season. I would rather trade one of them than Andujar.
I could some interest in Gallo, but very little in Hicks at this point. I suspect the Yanks would have to pay the bulk of his contract to move him.
The Nationals’ game against the Reds ended in dramatic fashion yesterday, on a pickoff play. The Nats’ catcher caught the Red on first base for the third out in the bottom of the 9th. Obviously, the Reds had to challenge it, and the play was confirmed.
The Jays could really use a lefthanded bat, but I wouldn’t take Gallo unless he was literally free. He’s useful when he gets his batting average up over .200, but he can’t do that most of the time. He’s basically good at defense and whining about defensive shifts.
Reds rookie pitcher Hunter Greene has pitched seven innings of one-hit baseball against the Arizona Diamondbacks today, and has set down like 20 guys in a row.
