Nats had a great game against the Giants last night. In the past six games, Nats pitching has thrown 47 strikes and not one walk.
Is there a straight dope fantasy league? If not does anyone want to be in one?
The Astros have won 12 of 16, and since May 11, are 18-10. That includes winning 8 of their last 9 road games too.
WTH?
Toronto and Houston.
The world keeps turning, doesn’t it?
Bob Welch has passed away at age 57. Cause not yet known.
Nats beat the Giants inSF again. Nats are 9 out of their last 11.
Jays are doomed. The real team is back.
The Red Sox look to come out of the break with Brock Holt and Mookie Betts in left and center. It’ll probably work, too.
There are several. We’re always looking for replacements in the Big League, which started at 13 teams in 2003, swelled to the max 20 teams several times, and is now sitting at 17. We swapped out AVG for OBP, and added SLG - and threw in Holds on the pitching side to even it out. It’s been a ton of fun over the years, especially the draft.
Baseball needs more Mookies.
On a semi-unrelated note, boxing can never have enough Sugar Rays.
If you need a replacement, I’m available. Just send me a message if you need one.
I’m hoping that’s true for the moment at least, as the Jays go to Baltimore for a four-game set.
The Orioles just beat the Red Sox 2-1 in a three-game series. Boston managed to take one game, despite scoring only a single run in the whole series.
I’m currently in San Francisco, and am heading out to the ballpark in about an hour to watch the Nationals take on the Giants. Top of the NL East versus top of the NL West, although Washington has had San Francisco’s number recently.
Please put me down for this next year, if you’re keeping a list.
I know this sounds crazy, but I still believe the AL East will be won by Boston. They are not as bad as their record suggests, and really, I don’t think Baltimore or New York are very good.
Can Boston be 9 games better than Toronto over 95 games? I think they can.
The Giants have dropped 3 straight (to Washington) for the first time since April. This of course causes much anguish and hand-wringing…is the best record in baseball entirely built on sand, smoke & mirrors? Probably.
Leading 2-1 at the moment, but completely wasted a bases loaded, nobody out situation. We’re doomed.
You may be right, but i hope you’re wrong. While i’m rooting for Baltimore, i’d be happy enough seeing the Jays win the division. Tampa’s woeful this year, and i’d really prefer not to have a Yankee or Red Sox victory.
Well, the Giants went on to what was a relatively comfortable win, 7-1. Tim Hudson got out of a couple of jams, and ended up with 7 innings of 1-run ball. Neither starting pitcher can bunt for shit; both Hudson and Treinen tried to bunt runners along, and both struck out bunting.
It was a perfect day at the ballpark. Sunny, with a nice breeze, and that awesome view. It really is a great location.
I think almost all Nationals fans are happy with taking 3 of 4 from the
Giants in SF. Hopefully they can take 2 from the Cards and have some momentum coming when the Braves come to town. Honestly, the NL East is looking weak.
If the Giants can just play the Nats and Rockies for the rest of the season, and the Dodgers play the D-backs and the Padres, all will be well.
Every fan has a game where they want to throw a brick through the TV or stab themselves in the brain with a pencil. After the last 2 Giants - Rockies games (blown leads in the 9th), I’m running out of bricks and pencils.
And the Rockies do it again, overcoming a four run deficit late to sweep the Giants in SF.
Yesterday, Rockies reliever Rex Brothers struck out the side on nine pitches. Apparently this is known as an “Immaculate Inning” and it was only the 76th time it has been done in MLB history.
