Would have liked to see Lowe finish the 8th, but he was definitely sharp. It remains to be seen what the Tribe does when it hits the AL East, though. Overall, a good month.

Dusty gets these infatuations with certain players and I’m not really sure why. He pulled the same shit with Corey Patterson a few years ago. Drove me nuts.
On another note, Latos continues to be the suck on the mound. Fortunately Joey Votto has come alive recently. Up 6-5 over the Stros in the 8th…take this series and that’s three series wins in a row. Baby steps.
Has anyone been watching Aroldis Chapman this season? Dude is tearing it up. As the setup guy having pitched in 12 innings in 9 games, he is 2-0 with a 0 ERA, 21 strikeouts, 4 BB and 5 hits. Pretty damn good.
This is starting to feel like 2005 for Baltimore fans.
The team just took another series, this time against Oakland, and is going to finish April in the unlikely position of leading the AL East. And, like 2005, i just can’t see it lasting. Admittedly, it was really not until July that the Orioles collapsed in '05, and i’ll be very happy if the team can continue their good run for a while, but i really don’t see it happening
Their next 15 games are against the Yankees, Red Sox, Rangers, and Rays. If they can play .500 or better over that stretch, i’ll begin to believe that they might be more than a flash in the pan, but my prediction is that they won’t be at the top of the division by the middle of May.
Todd Helton just hit a pinch-hit, two out two strike grand slam to tie the Mets 4-4 in the bottom of the eighth. His college teammate Peyton Manning was in the stands watching.
That slurve Yu Darvish throws is a nice pitch.
Evan Longoria hurt one of his legs while getting thrown out trying to steal in the third inning in the game against the M’s. He had to leave the game. If it’s serious, the Rays are in trouble.
In Guys Who Are Awesome News:
Matt Kemp hit another home run, and
Watched Yu Darvish pitch against the Jays tonight and he looks, to me, exactly like he looked in tapes I watched of him pitching in NPB; fricking dominant. He still reminds me of Roger Clemens; he’s huge, he’s got plus velocity, and he has breaking pitches that can buckle the knees. Great mechanics. The Rangers got themselves an ace.
I went to dodgers/Rockies last night. Matt Kemp in unbelievable. I was hoping he would finish of April with another homer and sure enough he cranks one in his first at bat. After that Nicasio was scared of him and wouldn’t put anything over the plate leading to a walk and a deep line drive that was nicely stolen by the Rockies center fielder. Also right before he got robbed he got up over the fence to rob a two run home run (still a deep sacrifice) and he had a couple of other nice catches.
Unfortunatly, he got dominated by the first reliever with the bases loaded and no out. Having him and Either strike out back to back was crushing.
One other note, I love Dee when he’s on the base path and he’s and exciting fielder but for the love of god he needs to stop swinging at every single piece of crap they throw him. I was sitting with some other Dodgers fans and we decided he’s only allowed to bunt from now on since he’ll probably beat out a third of them even if the D is expecting it.
Yeah, Dee is pressing like crazy right now. He was a .300 hitter in the minors and had a .350 OPB in spring training, so I think it is a correctable problem…but it needs to get fixed.
Also AJ Ellis is close to leading the league in walks. He needs to move up in the order so he can get on base more.
Darvish is now appointment baseball. He’s really fun to watch pitch.
It has to be frustrating for Jays fans watching the Rangers knowing how close they would be to having Darvish and Napoli on their team.
Home run Derby in Colorado tonight. Top of the first and Ethier and Dee Gordon (yes Dee Gordon) have both homered. No outs.
