I’m not a fan of Gallo, I wish Cashman had found a taker for him in the offseason.
Yeah, it’s pretty rough. There was talk in the offseason about the Yankees going after Matt Chapman. I don’t know if I could bear to watch two Gallos at the plate every game.
I don’t care if the catching position produces any offense, but I tire of Gallo coming up and getting either strikeouts, walks, or homers. Why not give Florial a chance? Or bring back Gardner? Or trade for a prospect?
Not Gardner! So glad he is finally gone. His skills have deteriorated each season for 3-4 years now.

I’m not sure Florial is the right answer right now. I would say give him time.
In my dreams, Cashman gives up whatever necessary to acquire Cedric Mullins.
I don’t know what’s wrong with HIcks; he’s healthy and in shape, but all of his skills have deteriorated to the point that he’s a liability on both sides of the ball. Unless there is a marked turnaround, Cash needs to do something.
I’m not a Cubs fan but this is a great story. Overdue. My favorite fact: in 8 seasons (including one retread in the 80s) Fergie threw 154 complete games for the Cubs. I know it was different back then, but still.
Thanks for sharing this. Overdue yes but at least he was able to be there and see it.
And the Yanks are rained out.
I work from home very near Wrigley and was able to hear the whole thing. I’ll walk by Wrigley later today to see it.
Also, he hit like a pitcher for the bulk of his career, but in '71 he had 6 homers and .761 OPS. Not too shabby.
ETA: He pitched 4500 innings but nary a one in the postseason. Ah, the Cubbies and Rangers and Red Sox.
He had 20 RBIs in '71, also, making him (I believe) the last fulltime pitcher to reach that total. I saw him pitch 10-12 games growing up. He was a fine, fine pitcher who HATED coming out of games.
Carter Kieboom to have season ending and maybe career ending Tommy John surgery. A player with so much potential and yet probably an insignificant major league career.
Did MLB dot TV just take down its entire back catalog prior to February 2020? I was enjoying watching the Nats’ 2019 postseason in its entirety. (At least, all the wins.)
Happy Adley Rutschman Day, to those who celebrate.
Yanks and White Sox had another dust up today on the way to another Yankee victory.
Single Admission double header tomorrow apparently. Thanks to yesterdays storms.
Mets keep rolling and have an 8 game lead over the Braves. And the Phils but I don’t think they will contend. What is happening with the Braves? I would think they would get better, no?
From yesterday’s Boston-Seattle game @ Fenway, Jonny Gomes was sitting in the Green Monster seats and caught a Trevor Story grand slam ball. I wonder if anyone has ever played hit one over the Green Monster and caught a ball on top of it?
Guess who the last player was to break a scoreless tie with a grand slam at Fenway?
On what other MLB broadcast than the Mets are you going to get a “Waiting for Godot” reference? None. The Rockies have a reliever named Goudeau that they have been waiting for an opportunity to get into a game, and Ron Darling quips - “They are waiting for Goudeau.” Love Gary, Keith and Ron.
Is Donaldson an a-hole? I don’t really know a lot about him as a person. Or is this being over-blown?
